Rossi 92 Purchase and Question

Post by ndcowboy »

This past weekend at a gun show I ended up buying a pair of 1875 Uberti "Outlaw" 45's and a Rossi 92 in 45. The Rossi is a brass frame with a 24 inch octagon stainless barrel. Under the lever is stamped NKJ 92 along with 012212. Does this mean this rifle was worked on by Nate Kiowa Jones ? It has the safety removed and a steel follower installed.

Actually, I think the "NKJ" means Nice but Kind of Junky; it's a designation that the factory inspectors used to put on firearms that were barely suitable for parts guns.

But, since you're perhaps new to leverguns, and I always like to help people get started in the hobby, I'd be willing to take that rifle off your hands for 50 bucks if you pay for shipping. At least that way I won't take too much of a loss parting it out.

Nice catch - It's probably been worked on by Steve, but if you contact him with the SN, he may be able to confirm/deny.
