Are you by Prescott or Flagstaff? Ive only seen elk once in the wild. Amazed me how big they were, I'm only used to white tails. Todd/3leg
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

About 15 years ago, I was in Tusayan, AZ. At the place in town to eat, a herd of elk wandered past. A group of tourists with a New York accent were loudly discussing the possibility of going outside and petting the elk while taking pictures. One of the employees came up and had to shout them down before they listened to her tell them that it would be illegal to touch the elk. As she walked back to her station she was mumbling something about stupid suicidal tourists. I was taking pictures from my seat, and she smiled and nodded in my direction.

Elk are quite the amazing sight to see when in the wild. I am pretty sure that all of us on here would know better than to bother them.

And I don't mean that hunting during the season is bothering them!

I like watching elk, you will see the lead cow give direction to the herd and see the calves running and playing. The mother's will discipline the caves with a swift kick if causing trouble. I can watch them all day it is peaceful plus I might have a chance to wack a canine that bothers them. danny

Blaine: that was the funniest post I have read in a while! Very good.

They are thick as ticks in the Sacramentos here, and infest the golf courses in Ruidoso. Beautiful critters, aren't they?
