I think the effort to support the militia angle is great.

But... would they be required to register them to demonstrate the required ownership?

Two-edged sword, IMO.

I think it would be more effective to have those required to own one also train in military order as well. As I recall the history, the militia was never kept well trained in the early US and proved not particularly effective. The voters would likely be quite annoyed were they also required to train in the Guard.

I partially support this idea. Partially because it doesn't go far enough. Like KWK said, there needs to be training as well for the militia to work, without training it's a waste of tax payers money.

The AR manufacturers would love it though.
