Happy Pancake Day!

Post by piller »

Being from Liberal, Kansas, where we also carry on---in a typical American updated version---the spirit of Pancake races on Shrove Tuesday(sort of a Mardi Gras without the drinking and sex), I want to wish everyone a Happy Pancake Day.

If more men loved and cherished their wives as much as I love bacon the world would be a much better place.

Have a new friend who wants me to make her some buttermilk pancakes and the lemon syrup to go on top ...
She's awful cute, so I expect to comply here before long ...

Geesh! What good is a party without drinking and sex? I’m surprised Kansas isn’t one big ghost town.

It has some strong religious history. Pancake day has its roots in women bringing a skillet of hot food to Church on the day before Ash Wednesday to feed their toddlers and keep them quiet.

Hey Billy.....If there is a chance that this is going to get serious and lead to pitching woo and sparking, you might want to wear that fez of yours while flipping those hot cakes

I live in a heavily Polish/German area of Michigan and we have a Fat Tuesday tradition of Paczki (Pronounced "Punch Key")

They have to be eaten in moderation ...... or not.

Well, Liberal beat Olney in the Pancake Race. I guess it is time to give something up for 40 days. I am giving up chips and french fries. Healthier to give them up, and I am not giving up on my leverguns for 40 days. I can not see a point in not touching my guns for 40 days.

My wife always calls it Fauchnaut Day or Doughnut Day.

Some kind of Pennsylvania Dutch thing.

So... Doughnuts.
