I started my kids and my grandson shooting at that age and they all became crack shots.

Pretty neato! .....reminded me of my first experience in 1959 when my dad handed me an M-1 carbine and said, "shoot!". I ain't stopped since then.

It’s actually an old box stand that’s not in use anymore and 500 more acres of thick woods. On the edge of the pit there is also about a 5’ hill to catch lead.

No semi tractors...... or anything else for that matter was hurt in the making of this video.

I like the fact that they gave him a "proper" gun......my first gun was a lever action but only a BB gun.

He already has a love for lever guns. His own first gun was also a Daisy BB gun which he still shoots regularly. He has already taken several squirrel and rabbit with his bb and pellet guns.

I'm glad to hear that :D I guess leveraction BB guns started a lot of kids on the right track.
As a fellow Squirrel hunter I wish him well 8)

Started Y2K shooting a .22 when he was only 2 years old. Most of it was just to get him used to wearing eye & ear protection, and general safety and gun-handling. By the time he was 5 he' was practically an old pro.

That's my only concern with the video. The young lad should have been wearing eye protection. We all should, each and every time we shoot, and model that behavior (as well as insist on it) for youngsters we teach. I think most of us here probably have some hearing issues, to one extend or another, due to not wearing proper hearing protection in our youth (shooting or other loud activities). I know I do. I have a buddy who can see today because his shooting glass protected his eyes when a store-bought double-charged reload blew apart his gun (cracked both lenses and peppered his face). It may be a pain to wear them, but both are cheap, and much cheaper than lost vision or hearing...

I can’t disagree there. I’m hard of hearing because of all the shooting I did younger with no ear protection. I do try to remember eye protection but admit that we don’t wear them all the time. I have never in all my years of shooting have ever had anything happen that have made me think I was glad I had eye protection but do realize that something could happen.

Great video and great shooting by him. I wish the kids in the family would get into the shooting scene but, even the certified range master’s sons find it boring.

Both of my sons have always enjoyed shooting, thankfully.
