I'm done with Benchmade

Post by jdad »

This disappoints me in many ways.

To summarize...
OCPD posted a pic of Benchmade destroying guns for them. Turns out the guns were not required to be destroyed. The Chief is antigun and its his policy. Finally Benchmade was outed as donating to democrats even though their website states they do not donate to political campaigns.

The details are here. https://www.ar15.com/forums/General/WTF ... 39/?page=1

Thanks for that information! I'm going to make sure it gets lots of mileage everywhere I can post the link and tell my friends!
Have to ask my daughter what she knows about it too. She works for the CC DA's office, and I bet they haven't heard about this yet. She usually tells me when she hears this stuff.

Based in the greater Pornland Whoregon metroplex, so... why exactly is this a surprise? Once you get away from that area, Oregon has lots of normal people. Just like you have to get away from the Putrid Sound Basin to find normal people in Washington.

Never heard of Benchmade and felt left out of this conversation, so I did a search on the Internet and learned that they are a maker of knives!
No wonder I never heard of them! I do not collect knives and can recollect losing only two knives in my entire life!
Both of those were lost on hunting trips - one good pocket knife and one good belt knife. I am just now reminded of how each was bought as a teenager and lost as an adult. Oh well.

Fear not though, I have plenty of both to last the rest of my life.

There are really no connections to where Benchmade is located, and their stance on guns, knives, or what party they donate thousands to. They could be in rural Arkansas, and still be Democrats, or supporters of left wing agendas.

I just read the Benchmade response, blaming their actions on their ties to the P.D. and providing assistance.

No, I wouldn't recommend biting Blaine. After all those years of playing brass instruments, you know he still would taste like Brasso.

On the local news this morning Benchmade made an announcement that they would no longer be involved in OCPD's gun destruction. OCPD has deleted their post on FB showing BM helping them cut up guns. BM has gone further to lie about their involvement and say they "loaned tools and a work area" to OCPD, but weren't futher involved. Of course this is a big fat lie, as pictures show people in Benchmade shirts with their logo doing the cutting. Not to mention any company with a lawyer will tell them not to let non employees use tools or work space, as it leaves them open to law suits if someone is hurt.
But the issue of BM donating the largest majority of their donations to anti gun candidates has been left unaddressed by BM. They can't defend it, and they can't make it go away. So they chose to simply ignore it, and hope others offended by it will too.

It is well worth noting that that the two Dem recipients of most of the 2018 contributions went to Dem. Rep. Kurt Schrader -- who in 2010 had an A rating from the NRA and in 2018, a rating of 72. He got a $5000 contribution from the NRA itself.
Martin Heinrich, my senator here in NM, had an A rating in 2010, since left the NRA and has voted for universal background checks, bumpstock bans, etc.. On the other hand, he also has consistently supported protecting and supporting public lands protections that directly benefit hunting and fishing. I didn't vote for him, but could have done worse.

I lost my BM Mini Barrage about a month ago. I LOVED that knife. I went to the factories of Gerber, KAI(Kershaw/ZT), and CRKT today and it kills me that none of them have anything close in function, ergonomics or quality, TO THE MINI BARRAGE.

I will not buy another BM product. The Gerber "US Assist" is about as close as I can find and it's about half the price.

I carry a Cutco #1891. They're lifetime guaranteed, and not just to the original purchaser, but to anyone who possesses it! They also sharpen it for free any time you want. Less expensive than a BM at under $100, and a great company to deal with. Only drawback is they can't be purchased from any retailer. Only through Cutco directly, or a Cutco sales person. But my granddaughter is a sales rep, so she takes care of me!

I have a few Cutco knives. They work well, and that Double D edge cuts through everything like a hungry piranha goes through raw meat.

If you are going to the NRA show, Benchmade's booth is directly behind MagPul.

I wonder if they are going to cancel.

I'm not attending the NRA show, but would absolutely love to. I'd stand there with a video camera all day long I think.

That is, if they show up.

It would be nice if the NRA would cancel BM's booth at the show. That might be a step in the right direction. We should all know who our friends are.

Already have 8 lots on the Spring River. Just have to find a buyer with deeeeep pockets for the plantation... house built in 1840. Hospital during the War. War burials along the old cotton haul road. Over 40 acres of pecan orchards, mixed hardwoods and a 4+ acre pond full of record book grade catfish, crappie and sunfish.

Last property this size in my area went for 7 figures... and had no historic sites. Realtor says $1.6m is not unrealistic
