Rebuilding a levergun - right here in Coffee Country...

Post by AmBraCol »

Well, sort of a levergun anyway. It's got this lever on the side to charge it with air. :D

Walther LGR - 10 Meter Target Rifle

A friend's mother used to compete in 10 Meter Air Rifle and 10 Meter Air Pistol down here in Coffee Country. She passed away a few years ago and the guns have been in storage for a while. I rebuilt her FWB 300S and Modell 75 and Modell 2 rifle and pistols but it wasn't until last year that the parts for the Walther were ordered from John Knibbs in England. They sent the parts to my billing address in the US instead of my mailing address here - and never answered a single email inquiry into the matter.

Well, a search of the 'net for info on this rifle turned up very, very, very little. Did I mention there's not much info on rebuilding these rifles on the 'net? So after watching a video on rebuilding the valve I finally got that round tuit and dove in. The results are chronicled in the article linked above. There's an issue or two still to iron out - or not. But she's up and shooting and even though I've just used Field Target type ammo instead of the proper stuff, she's a shooter in the accuracy department. Still don't have the rear sight, he said he'd look for it. But with a 3-12X44 scope I've been having a blast. Uh, rather, a "pop". The pellet hitting the pellet trap is louder than the report. And zero recoil. It's a hoot! The problem is, now that it's shooting again I'll have to hand it back over to the owner. Had fun resurrecting it anyway!

Paul, there's a Facebook group you might want to want to reach out to. There are some airgun smiths there. https://www.facebook.com/groups/Airgunchatandbs/

You might also want to check out THE AIRGUN WIRE for some of the latest news.
