Owl surgeon

Post by Pitchy »

We had a rabbit hanging around until yesterday, found a gut pile in one of the paths Norma shovels too the bird feeders.
Not one speck of blood no rabbit one cotton ball size piece of fur and the gut pile, amazing.
Pretty sure it was a owl Eagles usually don`t come around in the night, can see the wing prints in the snow.

I've seen that before too. An owl is a smart critter- knowing the intestines don't have much in the way of nutrition they just unzip the victim and take the delectables. Old Peter cotton tail never knew what hit him.

One of the great things about having snow on the ground , the evidence becomes clear.

Yup, I'd say that's it.
Was hunting at camp one time and came on a rabbit on its back. It was opened like with a zipper and cleaned right out. Looked up, and the owl was looking down at me.
"Oh bother", said Pooh, as he chambered another round.

Haha, guess he went back for seconds. :D
Coming home from work, there are crows out on the highway everywhere looking for breakfast.
For the last month, there has been a huge bald eagle that decided to hit the buffet. No crows in sight now!

I once stumbled on an adult deer, back broken over a log and insides cleaned out by brer bear. And a couple of gallons of FRESH blood under the carcase... Yeah, I went back to the skiff skunked . . . :lol

Pitchy, I'm surprised the the chicadees werent finishing up the rabbit.. I had a rabbit at cabin that would follow my tracks around, and did you know rabbits eat yellow snow for the salt! I just realized i didnt hear any owls the whole time up there. Hope your enjoying the warmer overcast day. Todd
