Winter morning at the range, with two lever guns

Post by MGR1 »

I had a fine morning at the range yesterday, shooting the Henry Big Boy Steel 357 Magnum: https://youtu.be/Z9oOA3kO60o

And the Winchester 94AE Big Bore 356 Winchester: https://youtu.be/tWj_b-aXUmA

The sound of the gong is very satisfying :).

Wow! Very cool. 8) Very good shooting!
356... didn't expect that one.
I haven't been able to get out to the range for quite some time now. This just reminded me of how much I NEED to get back out there.

Thanks, that was a treat!

Nice range, wish I had something like that around here.

Interesting that the unsuppressed .357 isn't much if any louder than the suppressed 356.

Yes, the 356 Win has a loud crack. The suppressor is an old one though, it is some 20 years old.

Yes, the 356 Win is a great caliber. You can hear it has quite some energy left at 150 meters :). These were 220 Speers, and they deliver the goods.

Nice!

I’m going to a “long range” shoot next weekend. 200 yards, open iron only. Taking the 1965 M94 for sure. Will take the 1967 M94 src (20” octagon barrel) if it is A) back together, and B) I get off my dead butt and load some rounds for it...

Pretty neato MGR...it sure is different watching people shoot from a faraway land.

Here, we play cowboys and Indians......I bet that when you shoot, your pretending some Vikings with horns on their head are coming at you. :D ----6

Thats good shooting, was gonna ask you about your brass, but saw you were watching where every piece landed when you levered a new round in. Todd/3leg
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

250 Savage... its what the 223 wishes it could be...!

Yes, have to watch them carefully :D. I have 113 used Winchester cases and 100 new Jamison ones. However I have successfully converted some 7x57R cases to 356 Winchester, and have a reliable source for these, so will be using them in the future.

Thats nice, i forget you have rimmed versions of popular calibers over there to use. I saw a Valmet O/U in 7x57R at a shop about 5 years ago for $1400. Was gonna sell about 5 unused firearms to get it, but it was gone when i went back 3 weeks later. Todd/3leg
