That means you need the coffee pot in your work room :D
The curly option is nice but would be nice with a little dye added just to bring out the grain.

Now if they would do something about that "thick as a brick" forearm, they might be on to something. The forearm is about as svelte as a Louisville Slugger.

That certainly has a unique look! Trying to visualize how that stock would look on stainless.

Yes the plain maple is a bit of a stretch, that's why it needs just a bit of color. Curly maple is dense and takes a lot of abuse. But that WHITE color is too bright.

Think of the old muzzle loaders, rich warm reddish brown , that shows the grain but tones it down.

Strip it down, stain with aqua fortis, heated, then hand-rub many coats of linseed. I have never understood this urge to finish maple as Danish blonde. Yuck. Sam and Jake Hawken would be ashamed.

Once upon a time, I stumbled across a sporterized 1903A3 Springfield that had been awkwardly re-stocked in a bright Maple.

I stripped the stock & stained it lightly with a Walnut stain - after finishing with Tru-Oil, the stock looked like a nice honey-colored Curly Maple.

I like the look of the new Marlin, following on the heels of Winchester's & Browning's offerings of factory Maple-stocked guns.

I'm not sure if I like it or not but if it was mine I'd use it as is then dye it if it didn't grow on me.
If more men loved and cherished their wives as much as I love bacon the world would be a much better place.

I really find light colored wood on a blued gun to be ugly. I wouldn't want this option if it was free. If they darkened it up it would look better, but still not as nice as good walnut.

I have a couple old Ballard single shot rifles in birdseye maple, and that's a much nicer look than this curly maple. One is a Pope-Ballard and one is a Schoyen-Ballard. Both have a much warmer color than this Marlin curly maple.

I have a bunch of Marlin rifles, but those are just ugly....If the Hildybeast was a shooter that one would be her go to gun. :oops: :oops: :oops: :oops: :oops: .

The checkering has to go, the forearm needs slimmed, and the Maple while nice, needs a dye job, other then that its great, lol
