Post by 6pt-sika »

SR7625 has been out of production for IMR/Hodgdon for several years now . But today I was able to acquire EIGHTEEN pounds :wink: My 10 gauge ge powder needs are pretty much covered for the next thirty to forty years .

Before they quit selling it I used 7625 in the 10 , 12 , 16 , 20 and 28 . When I quit loading the lesser gauges ex with it I just loaded the 10 and slug/Buckshot for the 12 , 16 and 20 . To be honest since I started doing 18.8 grains of Red Dot with 1 1/8 ounce of shot for 10 gauge skeet/trap loads I’ve cut back a good bit on 7625 usage . But I’m still glad to get an abundance of it !

I thought I had some of that, but cant find it !

and somewhat related, I just pm'ed you the following:

" i am trying to concoct a round ball load for my 10 gauge Winchester 1901 lever action [ might use it in my baker 10 gauge SXS also]

I have the correct looking .760 round ball [ from track of the wolf ] and it weighs 661 gr [ about 1.5 oz ]. fits nice inside my hulls.

I have 2 7/8", cut down, federal hulls, but no idea what else to use for best performance.. I have some ballistic products X10X spacers and over shot discs. I am planning to roll crimp. not sure of powder charge, etc

have you done this? you probably know more about this than anyone I know

let me know what you think;

thanks "

and anyone else who knows, please let me know

A .760” ball would not go thru the chokes in my barrels .
