Thanks for the good wishes.

Didn't do anything special for the birthday; pretty much just another day at work. Did chop up some bacon and fried it alongside some ground beef to form a foundation to a batch of country gravy over smashed potatoes for supper. Cauliflower alongside and finished up having a snack cake with eggnog-flavored filling for dessert/birthday cake. Told Sweet Tooth I would like to try those snack cakes and to just grab some of them, not to bother buying a cake or pie this year and she actually listened.

I have made a few purchases over the year that I figure left me set up with more than adequate gifts for several holidays. Picked up a nice Rem 121 with a Lyman tang sight back in the summer, followed by another Model 25, only this time in .25-20 a couple months later. Developed a burning need to own a Hudson H9 after reading up on them and have been spending a lot of time with it. Stumbled across a Savage 24V .222 over 20 ga. that was in desperate need of a new home. Got a "free" rifle for my 25 year service award at work and now have a Savage Scout as an understudy to the Steyr.

And finally, getting on track for this forum, I found a Model 71 back about the beginning of August that wasn't priced crazy high. Made the mistake of thinking I'd order .348 dies through work. Still waiting. I hope to be able to shoot it before the next birthday.
