Pictures and trinkets from the Great St. of FL!

Post by 2ndovc »

Back in cold and overcast OH, but we had almost two weeks off and headed down to spend our vacation and my Bday w/ my dad in Vero Beach, FL.

Lot's of relaxing but did some shooting and a gun show on Saturday. Bubbles was asked to sit as a model for some artists while we were there, she sure got a kick out of that.

Took the Sig MPX along, my dad wanted to shoot it. Got a problem though, in the bright sun and 50 yds out, can't see a darned thing with the Vortex. Did ok on the target but need to change up the optics. Either I add a magnifier or replace the whole thing with a Leuplod Firedot AR scope. Haven't decided yet but was really disappointed in my ability to produce the tiny little groups the MPX is capable of.

The Remington R51 shoots great! I had two failures to feed on the third magazine, but no others after a total of 100 rounds. Little bugger snaps pretty good but it works just fine.

Got to run a belt through my dad's friends Polish RPK! Man, that was fun!!

Some trophies from the gun show.

Picked up the Ruger MKII for $240 and the Lyman .44 cal PBFN mold w/ the box, handles and a stick of lube for $30.
Great vacation but I'm happy to be home with a little dog on my lap! :D

Stainless Mk2 just like mine except mine is a 10" with muzzle brake, scope and action job. Was my close in pasture poodle plinker.

Last time I was in Florida I was tarpon fishing, I was up 32 hours by the time I got on the plane, fell asleep before we taxied and woke up when we reached the gate- best 2 hour nap i ever had.

That RPK must be a hoot!

Thanks Tycer, She's a keeper for sure! :D

Will, always thought those 10" barrels were cool. This is my second MKII, the other one has a short, heavy barrel. I'll have to take it with me when I go shoot the new one. Looking around Gunbroker, it wouldn't cost much to put together a little collection of these. :D Something to do this winter.

Thanks Guys! We had a great trip!

I decided last year for my 50th that I wanted to spend It with my lady and do something special for her after the year we had been through. I rented a fantastic place right on the beach and we had a wonderful time.
For this year, my dad got us a really nice condo for a week and a half for "El Cheapo Grande" that he paid for as a b-day present and we just had a great time!

Looking forward to next year!
