success: daughters first deer

Post by hfcable »

in montana , where she lives and is going to school ......we have a place down here and we were here for the week
it was in a shotgun area so she used a savage 220 rifled bolt action 20 ga shotgun..... end of the day .....and no shooting rest handy...so she shot standing off hand ... she said she used the focus and breath control etc that i had taught her... the shot was well over 150 yds ... hit it with first shot

Imagey

big deer , well over 200 lbs

she and mom did the dressing out etc

she was elated and proud .... and i am very proud of her ! a very good day

Nice looking deer and a pretty young lady. You did a great job teaching her how to shoot. Congratulations to her and you.

She did great and a nice first deer! I never thought about a shotgun only area of Montana but hear that the 220 20 ga is more like hunting with a 44 carbine.

That's fantastic! Job well done Dad!
My 220 20 ga hits ya a lot more than a 44 carbine. But I shoot 3" slugs , better accuracy. It's been said the 450 bushmaster is comparable to 20 slugs, I have both and the slugs kick more.
Congratulations to your daughter- I hope she has a long hunting career!

I love the big "happy kid" smile of youngsters.

I am taking my grandson on a buck hunt Sun-Wed and hope to see him smiling like that. He has taken does, hogs, turkey and upland birds, but no trophy buck so far.

I had a Savage 220 and a 450 BM also . Killed deer with both and as you might expect “no problem” . Still have the 220 but the 450 miraculously turned into a Benelli Montefeltro and cash

thanks fellows !

we just dropped ‘ bucky’ off at the processor and are going to look for a doe this afternoon

last night the buck was hanging from tree in the back yard—— motion light came on and an even larger mule deer buck was standing there a few feet away - looked like he was challenging the dead buck !!
