Piebald buck in Ohio

Post by t.r. »

My cousin downed this amazing buck in Van Wert County near the Indiana state line. He hunted with a smooth bore Winchester model 12 shooting 12 gauge Brenneke slugs. Distance was about 50 yards. Some say that it brings bad luck to shoot a piebald deer but I don't believe in myths and legends.

I've heard that some states/ provinces have protected pibald animals. Kinda silly to me!

Interesting look. It sort of makes me wonder about the recessive genetics for coloration.

Pibald is recessive but think of it as snow camo- the deer are getting ready for the next ice age :D !

Saw recently a pure white moose in Ontario, not albino, has dark pigment in eyes and nose. It was a bull and had good antlers. Ontario doesnt allow shooting of white moose.
