Hornady News

Post by Pete44ru »

.

Hornady has introduced a new .30cal cartridge, the .300 PRC cartridge, for very long range hunting and target use - It's basically the 375 Ruger necked down to 30 cal, but loaded to an overall length so that the long bullets are not deep seated in the case.

Also announced was the FTX (flex tip) factory load in 348 Winchester, and a new line of ammo for extreme hunting called Outfitter, which has nickel water proofed cases and Hornady's monolithic bullets.

Instead of introducing new cartridges, I wish they'd see fit to make old brass too! I was very excited when Hornady brought out the .405 again, and bought a fair amount of it. Would have purchased even more if I'd known the run would be so short! Wish they'd reconsider and bring it, and others back!

The 30 Nosler is a hot cartridge and has been around a couple of years. So far I haven't seen a lot of people using it. A cartridge based on the .375 Ruger sounds as if it is a close ballistic competitor. I am just not sure if it will take off.

From what I see the 6.5PRC is based off the the 300 RCM( I think its the same as 375), makes sense they step it up a bit for the 30 cal.
I'm sure the precision rifle guys will jump on the band wagon!

Nope I thought same as you . But the 375 is a larger case then the 300 or 338 RCM which the 6.5 SPR was based .
