She was lucky you guys have the steering wheel on the wrong side.

I see an awful lot of STUFF people drive down the road with that is NOT properly secured.

My uncle was an aeronautic engineer and always made us pack the station wagon "as if you're going to stand it on the front bumper" and nothing had better move (in case you slammed on the brakes). He also said even if you are hauling an anvil "it had better be tied down twice....!"

I wouldn't be surprised if that plywood was just sitting unsecured on some truck bed.
