Crocodiles

Post by 6pt-sika »

Well I just saw my first live Asian crocodiles all be it in captivity . Also saw my first LIVE Philippine Sambar , while not much head gear wise compared to an Indian Sambar I wouldn’t be above knocking him off if found legally in the wilds 👍🏻

How big are those Philippine Sambar? I know there are a few subspecies of varying sizes. The Sambar we have here in NZ are huge, similar in size to a decent Elk.
More meplat, more better.

I’d say a decent one bodywise oughtta be about 100 kilo’s on the hoof .

So we're talking just above 200 pounds?

175-225 is fair I’d say , where as an Indian Sambar might go 600 on the hoof .

Well I discovered today that Armscor/Rock Island have a retail gunshop here in Davao and what "I thought" was part of their manufacturing facility is in reality another retail/indoor range . So the wife and I checked it out !

When I took her to the range in Cagayan de Oro City it was using rented old kinda worn guns , this place is using practically brand new stuff . So me being the heck of a nice guy I am we rented an Armscor 22 LR semi auto rifle , a Rock Island 1911 9mm single stack and a Rock Island 1911 22 TCM double stack .

The wife did very well with the rifle and pretty well with the 9mm and well with the 22 TCM .

I got the 22 TCM because I've sold a couple to customers the last few months and wanted to try it for myself . Seemed to me to be a skoosh more recoil then the FN 5.7x28 . Seems Rock Island also makes a rather interesting little bolt action rifle in 22 TCM . I'll more then likely look into the 22 TCM in an 1911 and possibly the little bolt gun if they can be obtained stateside .

Cost for rental of three guns 100 rounds 22LR , 100 rounds 9mm , 50 rounds 22 TCM and a Rock Island tactical shirt was $120 not cheap but not overly expensive either .
