oncealing Puma 92's safety "hole"?

Post by Naphtali »

I have a Puma Model 92 whose safety atop the rear of the breech bolt has been removed and a circular plug that appears to be stainless steel has replaced it. This plug causes the hole for that safety to almost completely disappear. What is this plug? Where can one in the same apparently stainless steel be obtained, and at what cost?

Nate Kiowa Jones ( a frequent poster here) sells them for less than $20. Search for his website using "Steve's Gunz". He is the authority on the Rossi / Puma 92s.

I have them in most of my Rossi's - I think they make the gun SAFER, because the factory safety is floppy and can't be counted on to be in either the 'safe' or the 'fire' position reliably - and that's dangerous....!

NKJ here sells 'em, and they are great - takes about one minute to install. Easy...!

.

I made my own, before Steve was offering one, via turning a discarded Remington triggerguard crossbolt safety button using my hand drill (chucked in my bench vise) as a lathe, with various files as cutters/shapers.

It took me about a half-hour to fashion it, using the removed bolt top safety as a guide/template.

If polished, but not blued, it could be taken for stainless, depending upon the state of polishing.

AHA!

The only remaining step is to complete my purchase of the rifle. After that it's all downhill.

Many thanks, guys.
