How a 22 Semiauto Pistol wiped out USFA SAA Clones

Fascinating.

I have one of the little Zip22's, and it is a fun range-toy, and if it were better executed (had an ejector, and a heavier bolt for slower travel), it would have been potentially a practical gun for some niche use.

Maybe if I keep it my grandkids will have a 'Forgotten Weapon' they can sell for a bunch of dough....

I found out about that last week whilst looking up something else. Shame, I believe those SAA clones were pretty good.

Pretty good? More like the best production Colt style single action made up to that time. The new Standard Mfg. SSA surpasses it by a bit....

Whatever was going on in the owner's head sure makes me wonder too. They made OUTSTANDING single actions. I'm glad to have bought one NIB in 45 Colt with 7 1/2" barrel not long before they went out of business. Wish I had bought a couple more!

Reminds me of John Delorean, who made some great cars until he discovered cocaine. :o

It's amazing that a company like USFA could build one of the finest SAA made, and come up with such a total piece of junk. I can't understand how the Zip22 ever made it to production? Was he on drugs?
