Griff won page 94!!!!!!! That means he won a 94 Winchester and I know Pitchy has one around there. If he don't he will just have to give Griff 94 30-06 cartridges and his Garand.....

Gunny......a '99 savage in 300???? For 5? That sounds more than fair...get a serial number and condition...the older and more original, the more it's worth. Pics help....I do need the details.

Well...shot up 150 rds of 300 BO, 150 of .308 and another hundred or so of .223. We worked on his LWRC Sniper rifle, getting it dialed in....shoots like a match rifle.....likes the 168 HPBT but LOVES the 155 Palma match with H-380. Minute-of-clay-bird out to 500 meters. This is with a 1-6x Vortex hunting scope with no real decent crosshairs. Gonna replace it with a good target scope.

The little 8" barreled 300 did wonders out to 300 meters with the 125 gr .310 diameter AK bullet with 18.5 gr. of 5744....a load I pulled out of my head. Ahhhh, maybe 3" at 100 with that load but 1.5-2" with the Barnes 125 bullet...that one looks like a Hormady A Max...long and sleek.

Sounds like a good day at the range! You should trade him your new AR pistol in 300 BO for that sniper rifle- then maybe you'll have a better chance at those invasive silhouettes! :D

Yes Six I understand the details, I probably won't be able to get it in my hands for a couple weeks, we aren't shooting together again until later in the month. My guess is it's a 99A...

Glad your new .300 shot well, Six. One of the best things about them is how much you can play with the loads. You can stuff in any .30 cal that will feed. From 100gr. to 220gr., it's all fair game. Lots of powder options too.

Just looked around on Guns International, 99s in 300 are listed at 699 to 1500 bucks. Gotta get the serial number and see its condition!

Did ya all hear the news? I woke up in a tent this morning!!! Been a long time! That baby was pointing to the stars...

OK....what's there to do today?

Just thinking what Gunny said...trade the BO for the LWRC SWS....MMMMM....mmm.....I'll tell him to throw in a grand and it's a deal. :D ---6

Not bad here.
Wife and I took a bike ride. We were cruising down a nice back road when I looked beside us and saw a perfect shadow of us on the road. The way her hair was flying looked just like the weathervane my friend Pitchy made for me. Thought of my old buddy.
Looked behind me in the mirror to see if that old Shovel was back there! :D

Warm here again too. Only shadow I saw today was me on the mower.

Oh yeah I took Parker to town this morning, had to go to the bank. We walk in and all of a sudden Parker slams on the brakes and takes a huge dump right there on the floor ! Of course I feel like an idiot but the girls at the bank said oh dont worry about it it happens all the time. I guess Parker was a tad excited!

Pitchy I sure hope you document your build ! I have to get some pics of the 3 wheeler a buddy of mine made. The whole thing comes apart by pulling a few pins. He even made a ski for the front end.

OK....with due respect to Pitchy, the picture of the BAR man was taken last fall. The BAR man has got to the point where he is a pal around here. My son loves him and exclaimed, "your buddy Pitchy is a talented dude". I told him that Pitchy can build about anything and showed him a few other projects the master has completed.

Had to go out in the woods to shoot a squirrel for breakfast. My son shot a couple of blackbirds for mom to make into a pie. Desperate times call for desperate measures. A man has to set his priorities!!!! I got jealous yesterday when my boy bought a new Nikon Black 1000 4-16x scope for his LWRC Sniper Weapons System so I BOUGHT one too! There! Thinking of putting it on the Uzi for long range shooting. Dang scope has 90 minutes of elevation.

Old Savage...those pics made me hungry......hey! How about a picture of the "soft stuff" for my son?

Griff.....did Pitchy send ya the 94? ------6

Image

Johnny teaching the BAR man to shoot the .308......WITH......the NEW scope! The BAR man really likes it and to be truthful, might possibly give up the old technology for new tech.....That's fine with me as I'd rather have the BAR all to myself.....until Pitchy gives it away as a prize.....dang guy gives ALL my stuff away!--6

Fred.....your "El Primo" 250 Savage falls into the GFO group of guns. "GFO" means "go find one" and is mean in the capitalistic world of gun collecting. By that I mean the 250 gun is no different the the 300 but the demand is so much greater...just about equal to the highly desirable 358. A gunshop owner who has a kind heart will not put on the extra surcharge but guys like me, who are always looking to capitalize, will tack on the 40% extra......more as the condition rises.

I may sell stuff cheap on regular stuff but on hard to get items, I capitalize...F ' em....this is the East where dogs eat dogs.......

Down at Cabelas yesterday I was astounded at the prices in their library.....I'm not into it as much as I used to be and may be falling out of smarts....regular 99's from the early post war period...such as yours.....in standard calibers such as the 300...were bringing close to a grand..........did not see any in .250 but if yours is in high condition....repeat...high condition...it will bring 12-15.....maybe more at a good auction where two guys want the same gun.

Rare guns at good auctions are the place to sell stuff. Last year I got 12 for a 788 Remington in 44 mag...a rare gun.

There you go sir! Thanks for the picture of the soft stuff. My boy has a woodie now and was suspiciously eyeing the dog.---

We are planning on a wing ding of a cook out today. Everyone is invited. ......can you stop by to be the MASTER CHEF? No shyt, I sure wish a few of you guys lived by......I don't get along with most people as I'm particular on who I pal around with but the guys on OUR post ...and a few others.....would be grand to have around.......food and drinks on me.-----6

Thanks Six. Yes great condition, sat in a closet many years, guy died and the family sold it to a friend. I had been looking for one for 15 years or more. I won a Kimber bolt .308 at a banquet on a $20 ticket. Great shooter but it would not fit my face for the scope. I offered a trade but took six months to convince the guy he wasn't cheating me. He thought the Kimber was worth 11 but I found them for 7. I could easily get 10-12 for the 99 out here. Very accurate but would not put Barnes copper on paper. My 2005 94 25-35 put them under an inch but they were too long for the action.

Oh man! Pitchy has the army out.....my son loves them....he noticed the Harley chain for a belt of bullets. My wife likes the guy laying prone. I noticed the other BAR man.........it's my BAR man's brother.

Griff...your birthday today??? ITS ALSO OBAMAS BIRTHDAY!!! AND...ITS ALSO MY WEDDING ANNIVERSARY...47 YEARS! (Aug.4)

I'm "hongry" bring on the ZZ birds....do they taste anything like ZZ Top??

NOCE titties Fred...did ya give those babies a lick and a little kiss?

Well, we was BAD tonight!! It was 9pm and dark. We were sitting on the table outside when we decided to be "partners in crime"........so..........I go downstairs and pull 5 tracer bullets from 1969 M-60 machine gun ammo...(.308)......then I load up 5 rounds of 300 Blackout with 5 grains of Unique and insert the tracer bullets,.........then......screw on the suppressor on the 300 Blackout AR.........then.......we get a flashlight and walk out to the 150 yd gong and set the flashlight next to the gong.....so we know where we are shooting......then......walk back to the barn, set the rifle up, shine a light to make sure we don't shoot Stonewall........get the crosshairs on the flashlight and blast away....five rounds......NO sound......take a few videos......here is a still shot...

The light on the bottom is the flashlight...150 yds.....the light way ABOVE it is the tracer......yea.....on shooting we hit the tip of the fencepost and the bullet sailed away......

Waited five minutes...no sirens...whew.! .....did not go far as the velocity was only 750 fps and probably was only 400 after hitting the top of the post....left a deep groove.....

The other 4 rounds hit right in there on the backstop.....one round, upon hitting the backstop continued to burn bright! We walk out there and the bullet is laying on the wood.....my son grabbed it and it burned his hand a bit...still hot after a five minute walk....

Boys and their toys! we did that with a buddies M1 , shot a whole clip of tracers up into the woods, red streaks going every which way- cool shyt!

So the guy with the 99 brought it to the ZZ shoot yesterday. I'd say it's a 40-50% gun. Stock finish is poor, missing finish. The blueing is pretty good. Stupid me I didn't look at the bore! Anyhow it has a peep. Serial number is 346xxx. Thoughts? It does have the brass round counter.

Night fire 1971, Ft. Polk. 75 guns on the line all tracers. On command fire all 75 on full auto - 760/min. Repeat, that was quite a light show, richochets in every direction.

I'm up! Let the good times roll. :D

Gunny......40-50%????....The first thing I say when encountering any gun is what is the desirability factor. I put myself as a pretend gunshop owner and what I would pay for a particular gun and still need to make money on it and include the time, effort, and materials needed to make this gun sellable.

If a gun is ugly, needs work...oh well, I'm not going to pay for work I do....it's going to cost the seller....on a desirable gun, I tend to overlook minor flaws........OK, you have a 99 that the guy took the effort to show you.....it has a peep sight....is it a tang sight..is it a receiver sight that fits into the tang or is it a receiver sight that is d & t on the receiver? Big difference.

Either way, a gunshop is going to offer a guy about $250-3 on a gun that like and sell it for 6.....I'd say $350-4.

Ok, back to letting the good times roll......---6

A dealer here who also guides had one hard chromed as a camp loaner. I thought it turned out very well. Not everyone is going to like that of course.

Just buy it. That sight sounds like the Lyman short tang sight which I like very much. Take it home, take some pics and let us all brag on it.

Well....tears at the airport......this shyt sucks......my best pal is gone.......

As usual, gun deals are made before the send off.....he somehow left with the Colt Sporter 2 in tiger camo.....one of a kind....(GUNNY's GUN)........that's OK...it's going to a good home. My boy gave me the 300 Black Out and it's going to give me lots of playtime...new cartridge...new rifle. He also decided to leave the .308 LWRC C.S.A.S.S.for me to play with. Guaranteed sub MOA.....after shooting it the other day that much is true......it's also gonna give me a lot of playtime before he comes and gets it...mmmmm...maybe.....and dang if he didn't leave the new scope on it too! I can leave mine in the box.

Hope to have it ready before the next long range match. Bought 100 Sierra 155 TMMK's. Gonna test her out real good this week sometime. This is a match grade rifle so I got to be easy on repetitive firing.

Gunny......or Pitchy...you might as well come and get the BAR.....it's gonna be on the back burner for quite some time....first one here gets it.....ready???? GO!!!!!!'

The one we have here is #28X out of 500

That should help you on the long range matches. Pitchy will have to get the BAR- the whiny crybaby liberals don't allow the legal gun owners to have more than 10 round mags... F-in morons!

Woke up a bit early this morning , time to make coffee.

Yea...humid Gunny........sure don't feel the same today.......back to boredom.......and work.........grass to cut....clothes to wash.....shyt laying all over the place.....bucket of brass to load......guns to clean......

Why can't it be fun...fun...fun....everyday? You know, like the rich people....they have fun everyday and have the peons do their low level work for em.......hell, they don't load brass..they shoot cases of factory ammo......they even have people drive their vehicles! While I've never been in a Richy Rich house, I bet they have automatic azz wipers on their toilets, like Eddie Murphy did on "coming to America"...---6

Of the McMansions I have been in it's all for show. 2 BMW's in the garage but there are futons in front of the TV, mattress on the floor, nothing but take out containers in the trash. Now I'm sure there are people that do have nice houses, a bank account too but most of them aren't shooters..

OK Fred.....I remember the response but I thought you had a pic for me to respond to...I tell ya...my head is really truly phucked up from the concussion....doc says a year or more .....oh well.....

Griff.....what's the big deal on spending your BD in the truck? On my 65th I spent most of it in bed, disgusted as it seems like the other day I was a teenager........can't believe how fast they roll to the next one. .....especially when your having fun.
