Found a 1 3/4 and a 2 inch bits yesterday, it`s all about the threaded tip when it comes to drilling with the beam drill.
The threads on the two inch bit arn`t near as aggressive as the other and it doesn`t drill as good either, if that strips in the wood it quits drilling.

We made one of these saws the other day but the blade is junk, it would be neat with a new blade but they get about 70 bucks for a five footer on line.

Lenn the saw looks great! There is a show on PBS called The Woodwrights Shop, he uses all antique tools including that style saw. Guy has a heap of awesome tools.

GUNNY....Got back an hour ago..........are you NUTS.....?.....awarding Old Savage spent primers??? I have downstairs about 95% of every primer that came out of a reloaded case....about....mmmmm....I could get within a thousand if I looked at my logs.....about 350-400,000 off the top of my head....they are COPPER!!!!! Scrap yard tart! Old Savage don't need to win nuttin'...he has a lifetime supply of "soft stuff".... well, lemme tink on dis.........OK Fred....I'll award you Pitchy's saw and if your good, I'll throw in his baler.

Yes, thank you very much...the old Winchester shot very well today and the fact that there was no wind really helped...shot a 23 x 40 with a 126 year old rifle with the original slow twist "express" rifling. There was a 26, 28, and match winner got a 32 in the scoped class. These guys all use nice fresh perfect rifles made in Montana in 45-70 and 40-65. I got more congrats than the winners. One guy used an original Trapdoor and got a 6.

Fordwannabe...what's everyone going nuts around here?.....introducing your wife to an old girlfriend????? If this former GF is a real "looker" you ain't gonna have no peace in the house for a month. Guaranteed you ain't gonna get no P for a year. :D

OK....got the BAR barrel soaking with Sweets......long range match tomorrow.

Hey, you guys want a laugh?.....First thing this morning, Mark, our match director asks me , "Ok Jack, what's funny today?" I told him that I took a real long shower last night and used lots of soap and if he don't mind, could he smell my azz to make sure it's clean......
Damm if he didn't bend down and put his head level with my azz......yea....lots of fun today and a bigger fun day tomorrow when the heat lets up a bit.....

Gotta go load some '06's------6
Ready?....one, two, three, LAUGH!

Ah these are shotgun primers- mostly steel. Might use the jug as a wreck anchor if I can find someone that goes out for Tatoug, aka blackfish . These are fished for during the late fall & winter along the east coast.
Besides I figured OS would rather take the Labrador hair since it's easier to move around the house!

Glad you shot well, and the fact that you started the day with a great practical joke even better!!

Old Savage........there ain't nuttin' that can cook eggs as well as cast iron. Your pic of the two yokes reminded me of the 3 Stooges. Curly was cooking eggs and something happened where the two eggs landed on Moe's face and each yoke landed where his eyes were.--21

Man, my azz is draggin'....pushing 1230 ..gonna hit he sack and like Pitchy..." big day tomorrow" at the club.

I'm up at 4:30!! Why you ask- well I was invited to go fluke fishing today. Private boat so don't have to put up with the public drunks on a party boat..

Good luck in todays match !

Wow! Big days for everyone!
Got 3 humungous maples on my front lawn. Taking one down today if thunderstorms don't interfere. Need a bucket truck cause they are over the house, in the wires, in the entrance lines.........yeah, good times.
They were planted right after WW2.

Well just got home from the saltwater. Was slow fishing, only 3 fluke caught by us and none of them were big enough to keep. The wind picked up and it got real snotty, wind against the tide- knocked a lot of barnacles loose on the ride in!

Not sure if the maples up there rot internally like they do down here but be careful Jay! Seems like as soon as the maples get about 8-10" diameter the heart dies off.

Oh! The highlight of the trip was a humpback whale!! We were at full cruise when all of a sudden John knocks the boat outta gear and turns hard to starboard and says we almost hit a whale- then as we are standing there it surfaces about 10 ' from us and blows again. Whale snot all over us!

Gunny,
Haha 8-10 inches was a Loonnng time ago for these! The biggest is probably 3 feet. The one coming down is about 2 feet.
Not happening today. Gonna try again in a couple weeks.

A whale? That must have been neato....pics? Were you guys drinking at the time?....you know, it could have been Chris Cristie out for a swim.

Not much to report.....shot OK yesterday...got a 20 x 40 with the BAR.....biggest problem is that trigger pull. The very slightest sway of the crosshairs puts you off target....if fact, I believe some of my hits were by accident as when my brain told the finger to pull the trigger I was off target and the split second it took to pull the trigger I must have been back on. Dunno

After missing 8 chickens, my last animal was the pigs and I was so pizzed about the chickens I let my five rounds "rip off" and after a reset of the targets, I ripped off 5 more ....fast.......and I got 7 out of ten pigs.....go figure.

Windy as hell.....top shooter got a 38 with a half dozen 34's.

Well guys....we have a new prize to give away for page 86......Th first to get on 86 gets Pitchy's side car. Looks good Bro....there's a lot of craftsmanship you put into that. That would be neat to cruise around in....keep a six pack down by your feet....cracking beers and winging the empties into people's yards.....---6

No Six no beer involved. It was black, as black as the hildbeasts heart!
Well as we discussed before the BAR weren't meant to be a precision rifle. Need more trigger time to really get used to it and maybe you can improve your score.

Naaa Gunny......I'm too old to give a F anymore......next match I was thinking about using a lever action Marlin 336 in 219 Zipper with a 4X Bushnell scope. Even with the bar I still beat some guys with perfect benchrest rifles. Thinking about really making it challenging by using a Remington 870 with old style pumpkin balls in a smoothbore improved cylinder choke and a ghost sight.

The directors are doing another new style of benchrest shooting and it's catching on......22 rifles with the 1/5 scale smallbore .22 silhouettes at 77' 100, 150, and 200 meters. Guys are showing up with Model 52's, Anschutz's, 40X Remington's all topped with expensive scopes.....top score has been a 32....I think.

I was talking to the other "Gunny" today....on the phone......the Marine DS......he bought a house in N.C. like 50 miles from Camp Lejune........guess I won't see him again anytime soon-----6

The 1/5 scale match sounds like fun!

Oh what a night! Dixie was extremely restless. I'm thinking she had the shyts, about every 2 hours back outside. Of course now I'm crabby for lack of sleep!

Sunday is a double gun ZZ Bird match, of course I'm shooting my 28ga, hope I can stay competitive cuz I really don't have the cash to go buy a Parker 12 ga! Although I wouldn't mind having one.

BAR CAMPFIRE

#4235 Post by Sixgun » Tue Jul 02, 2019 9:15 pm

Hey! We had one heeeeellllll of a storm early this evening several hours ago........lost electric.......waited a half hour, called electric company......was told 23,000 people were out.......OK, no problem........I wanted to wait until I heard how long it's going to be out before I start up the generator...........

OK, I cut off the main breaker, fire up the generator, plug it in......and we have a house full of electric......take a nice hot shower, eat, watch TV.......three hours and still no electric........walk around outside and with the exception of my next door neighbor...who's a cop and has a generator......NOBODY has lights.........

OK. You may wonder why I said that. Well, I'm probably the "poorest " MF in the surrounding two miles. Around here, if you don't drive a Mercedes or a $60K pick up....you ain't nobody. Now could someone please tell me how these people can afford to live in 5,000 sq. foot houses, drive fancy cars.....but no one can afford a generator or think to have one.

Same thing happens when a big blizzard hits...they are home bound until they pay someone to clear their driveway.----6

Mr Six Sir,
I believe the answer to your question is....people are dumb.
Speaking of dumb people, me and Mrs fordwannabe drove 7.5 hours to Chesapeake on Friday met my old gf and her Husband and her 9 year old son and his family. It was good to see her again and catch up. I haven’t seen her in 34 years. I was getting the Mrs fordwannabe not happy vibe early on,but everything went well and no negative repercussions up to this point.

Six here is the answer to your question-

It's because people these days live beyond their means! They gotta have the fancy cars, big house, designer clothes so they 'appear' to be the cream of the crop. I have worked in many of the big homes around here, they usually have no furniture but a beemer or a Benz in the garage. Oh and they are up to their eyeballs in credit card debt!

Whew Tom sounds like you got away with it- for now anyway. Remember your wife will NOT forget !

Cool project, Lenn! Reminds me of when my dad and I built the camp. The building sat on posts and we used it to make sure the deck for the building was level all around. Used it periodically after it was built to check it also. Thing worked great.

Got a new battery in the old Harley yesterday and got a quick 60 mile ride in. Old crate is running sweet.
I was out in the dooryard cleaning off the bug guts after supper and my old biker buddy from the old days came over. He just put a new S&S big bore Evo in his old Softail. We sat out in the garage with the radio going, had a few beers, and talked about our old outlaw days. What a time! Man, we're gettin old.

Well, I'm taking a ride today. Ain't got a clue where I'm going. Maybe east......maybe west.
Later, boys.

Thanks, buddy. It's hot here too. Probably head west and ride the mountains. Be a little cooler.
When we were on our trip, we were way out in the Yukon on the AlCan, and stopped at this little store. I got out to stretch and saw an old Shovelhead FLH sitting there.
I thought of you when I saw it. Must have been quite a trip on that old gal.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention in my other post.....
My dad and I used a water level we made for the camp. Old design, like yours. Those folks were clever back then.

Well....I'm up...9:15 today! Walked around and very little damage.....electric came on around 11:30 last night....

Tom....did the nine year old look like you? I know a guy who that happened to......baby was an infant and looked just like the other woman's husband...yea...he got caught.

Jay...not much else beats hanging with an old bud and slamming down beers exaggerating old memories. (Yea, remember the cop pulled us over and took our case of beer?). Might have been a half a six pack...or a quart of Old Milwaukee.

I hear ya Gunny.......everyone wants to be a DuPont. Our little 1400 sq. foot house is easy to heat, easy to cool, and is very light on the taxes and maintenance.

Smokin' hot today.....might be a basement day as I was outside most of yesterday...---6
Ready?....one, two, three, LAUGH!

Hot darn Tom CONGRATULATIONS!! In another 15 years we can introduce my great neice to your grandson!!

I spent today on scaffold putting up 1x4 mahogany tongue & groove on a ceiling... no AC, no breeze, sun coming through the skylights. It was HOT!

Congrats Tom! Grandkids are the best!

Well, made it home. Rode 256 miles. Over through the hills to Gilead, crossed into the White mts., up rt.16 along the river to Errol. Then crossed back into Maine on 16, through the mountains to Rangeley, up to Stratton, over to Kingfield and home. Nice ride, but I'm feeling it. Of course, I don't ride a bagger either. :D
