61, but what are the clues? And what other views short of the serial# would give more hint?
Old Savage.....the long forend was continued until 1952......I could not see your forend........the post war blue, while similar to the late pre war guns had a different hue to it as compared to anything made after 63........drilling and tapping for a receiver sight started sometime in the early fifties.........war guns up until the late forties had a flat magazine/barrel band towards the muzzle........ahhhhhh....I guessed at your gun hoping to make a "lucky guess"... :D

I've seen so many Winchesters that I developed an eye........I blend the blue, the condition of the wood, sharpness of edges of the metal/wood, "proudness" and fit of the wood to metal and can many times come close as to manufacture date. If someone took a brand new in the box Winchester from the thirties, forties, fifties or early sixties and did not show the mechanical changes, I'd be at a loss as it takes decades for finishes to age where you can tell the difference....Even the blue and wood finish of a gun that has never been handled will change with age..usually a fair amount of age.....I can spot a professionally restored antique gun, like a Turnbull gun a mile away. While Turnbull does make it look like it was just made, the finishes ages.......you gotta look at a million of them to develop that "eye"......and it ain't the brown eye a.k.a. the chocolate starfish. :D ---6

Six, know what you mean. Lots of little differences. Haven't a clue myself. Got a Win catalog for 61. Had it memorized wearing it out. Wanted an 88, a 94 and a 70. Wanted a .270 but found a 30-06, gave that to a friend. Found a new last year production 88. But shot that one deer you saw with a friends early production .243. First 94 was an 89 carbine - great shooter. Found this primo 61 94 and snapped it up. Also have an 88 production 70 30-06 also a great shooter. Recently found a pre 64 .270 but not in that pursuit now. Not a collector, more an acquirer. It has taken me 20, 30, 40 years to get some things I was looking for. 30 for the most recent Colt.

Fred....any way you look at it your guns are better than money in the bank...and gaining more interest. Your 94 does look very nice...well, I might as well get to the final question........can I have it?

Hey Gunny...what's with the Hermann Goering look on your dog.....one eye open? That's funny.---6

Well Six, that is my only Vintage 94. I don't think an 85, 89, 94 or 05 qualify. But can you come get it? You could drive that four door Jeep, Yowser! A road trip, and leave it here and fly home.

Six she only has 1 eye! She went blind in it in about 2 weeks time, cancer. Now she walks around going Argh instead of Grrrr.
Poor Dix has had it tough, broken teeth/ bad teeth removed, the eye, 19 puppies terrorizing her. But even at 13 she is just as happy as she can be!

O S, hows your CVT Jeep doing?
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

Well Parker went to see the vet this morning, he is 99.9% certain she has torn her ACL. On the way home I had to stop and drag a large chunk of tree out of the road, people suck, dont slow down or help, just in a hurry all the time. So I called the police and they said they would alert the road department.
Then I get to the house and the power is out.
Wind is a constant 11-12 mph and gusting at least 20 since last night.

3 leg, mine is not CVT but a 6 speed they went to after. 2.0 engine will give up to 33-35 mpg on the freeway and 22-23 around time. Transmission always seems to know where it should be. 55,000 no issues except air bag and air flow actuator.

Whew!!'.......pulled a looooonnnnggggg one last night......got to bed around 2:30 something and just got up! I keep a white noise fan running and I was in dream land....dog snuggled up really keeps you 💤 sleeping. Beginning to think if that's a good/bad thing.......is too much sleep bad? When I am awake I am moving constantly....seldom sitting on the couch........inquiring minds want to know from the educated guys...YOU!

I do know the horse was beating the fence all to hell. It's a 12-14 hundred pound warmblood and when this horse wants to eat, he lets ya know......another hour or two he would have trampled the fence (though the weak spot) and bolted for the house. (Yes, have to keep a weak spot, the fence is only fooling the horse, when they want in or out they just bust through it like it was not even there.)

Anyway, on to my dear friend Old Savage and his issues.....those 94/22's are always in demand and while I don't follow them as they are newish guns, I do know they don't last long on dealers shelves. Price is pretty much location...location...location....with new specimens bringing top dollar.....how much top dollar? Dunno....when pricing a gun I know little about, I go to Gunbroker or Guns America and find a similar gun, then take about 15% off to get a real price for a gunshop. Or I go to the newest addition of the Blue Book....I'll go look after I'm done dropping Jussie Smollett off at the pool.

Gunny........a dog, very much unlike a human is ALWAYS happy....they can be 95% dead and still wag their tail. We have had several dogs go blind from old age and they just wander around the house, bumping into shyt. Left the cellar door open one time and Spike just went tumbling down the eleven steps. Got up and wagged his tail.---6

Fred....just looked in the new Blue Book...this book is pretty much "on the money". Most gunshops price their used guns according to this book....anyway, at 95% condition..$775.......98%....$875.....100%, which means NIB, like the way it left the factory..$995

The XTR Classic 9922 was manufactured from 1985-1987 and the original MSRP was $301.

Ya done well!----6

(Didn't think you were "selling" it...how about "giving" it to me.-----your faithful pal---6) :D

I like that Gunny......AND IN THE END, I ALWAYS KNEW I WAS RIGHT!!!!!!!

Griff, one time, in my early twenties, I came home from work with a bunch of roses 🌹 that a fellow worker was selling. They were nice, really....I brought them home and my wife threw em my face saying, "what the phuck is this, your cheap way for Valentine's Day"? I should have known better........my senior year high school shop project (I majored in wood shop) was this trinket box with inlays and engraving.....about a foot long...took me the better part of several months to make. She eventually smashed it in a fight......some things ya never forget---6

Hey guys!
It's true. Women are funny critters. Every one has to be figured out. I have an ex wife that was about all she could get for any holiday or reason. In the end, she didn't get much. OldWin is an easy goin' dude, but try and screw him over, and you will lose. That's enough about that. :D
My wife told me a long time ago that buying some extravagant gift to make up for being a jerk all year is a waste of money. Be there every day, and she don't need anything else. We NEVER buy each other gifts.
No matter what I want, guns ,Jeep parts, Harley parts.....whatever. She will tell me to get if I really really want. I NEVER take advantage. And....she never buys anything for herself.
She is one smart chick. I did much better this time. :D
Even I can learn. :D

OW ain’t that the truth. Mrs fordwannabe version 2.0 is way better than the ex. Version 1.0 (the ex) as far as I know is still hanging around up near you somewhere. But since we have not had a single communication since New Year’s Day 2002....Dunno, and truthfully don’t care.

Been doing measurements on an AR and custom loading to exact tolerances all day......I'm trying to do better and prove all of the big shots at the club they are wrong in needing high ballistic coefficient bullets for our little measly 2-500 meter half scale silhouette game.....but...I'll probably still lose anyway. I'm even going to go as far as using an ancient Sporter 2, the only Sporter 2 to leave the factory with Tiger camo. Oh shyt! This is Gunny's gun! Gunny, is it OK if I have a little bragging rights on your gun?
Thanks!

OK, on to women......the only reason guys get married is to have a steady uhhhh.....you know.......love and compatibility come later. The problem comes after being married.....they think they own you and try to change you into what they think is the ultimate in a man......in the meantime, we guys are stuck with our finger up our azz trying to figure out why our girl is nuts. We NEVER talk to our buddies about our girl being "nuts".....then one day after being married 40 years.....if it lasts that long......we find out ALL females are nuts and we become to be "pals" with sex being a has been. We have completed 46 years and will be 47 in a few months and the fact that my wife made it clear I'd be living in a tent with no guns kept me "doing the right thing".

OK, on to fun things...Gunny's wildcat.....looks like a 32-20 with a 180 spitzer but it looks fatter at the bullet, so it may be what I said or a .338 250 gr. Spitzer somehow jammed in the case.---6

Six of course you can use my Colt! Thank you for asking.

Yup a 25-20 blown out to .338.
Back when I was in skool, I was discussing subsonic loads with one of the instructors, the whisper ( and 338/223)was fairly new. Being a rimless straight wall I knew it would be a PITA for hand loaders to keep head space correct. Straight wall with a rim a no brainier! So the 338-20 was born and died . Most likely the bullets were wildly heavy for amount of powder burned, velocities would have been poor at best. This was long before any computer load programs. If I had the program I'd run the numbers just for kicks!

I am staying away from Jack from now on. He is horrible for my plans to retire in six years as I have become adddddictedddd to the old lever gun crack, he pushes. Which means I will have to keep working to support that habit. That’s it no more guns!

Gunny.......can I shoot your tiger camo AR tomorrow at the gunclub? I promise I won't get the barrel too hot. I loaded up a hundred Sierra Match 69 grainers to 2.430. ......bullets barely sit in the case.....all single load.

Griff.....I like truck stop food but can't eat it anymore because of the salt.

Hey Fordwannabe.....NOBODY can resist a good deal.....now, go mortgage the house and sell the Mustangs and bring a suitcase full of cash over here....we'll load ya up good. When I'm done converting your future house payments for easy cash for me, we will start on single action sixguns.....for starters we will start with the 1950's low cost Ruger flattops...just for me to get a foothold in your cash reserves......---6

Hey! Anybody wanna go "huffing" tonight? I just bought a case of 2+2 carb cleaner and a case of brake cleaner. You bring the paper bags!----6

Funny thing, I told that to the kid working at the auto parts store and he said,"really? You do that stuff?" I had to laugh telling him that if he does not want to grow up being half a brain like me, to stay away from huffing.

Ya gotta be careful who you say things like that too- this kinda stuff could get you a visit from the police, and possibly court ordered psychological treatment and IF there is just a hint of trouble POOF! No guns, no shooting, possible time in the pokey!

You know you were going for humor but there is always that chance that other person is a soulless, humorless liberal jack-off that hates even themselves and drops a dime on you... Just looking out for ya Jack!

Well we had a little snow last night, just enough to make it white.

Had to call Dillon again, that little white square 'cube' has decided it doesn't want to stay on the actuator. Dillon has got to be the best for customer service!

I haven’t used my 550 for a couple years “, as I only use it for big runs.lately I have been making .40 cal practice ammo by the hundreds. When I started with it, I had to relearn the machine, and it needed to warm up a little to being used again. Had to call Dillon for a small tube “thingie” that keeps the powder measure rod in the bracket. Arrived in three days and we have been making beautiful ammo together since. I made most of a 50 cal ammo can of 40. I will finish that can off, then switch and do blasting ammo for 223. I have also been making some 218 Bee ammo but use a rockchucker for that.

I need to shoot up my 40 supply- 3000 +/- that I loaded years ago and reload it fresh...
I'm the same way, blasting ammo on the 550 and accuracy stuff on a single stage and yes ya gotta relearn each time.

I hear ya Gunny...thank you!.....but....."the tree of freedom needs to be fed blood from time to time".....or words to that effect......as God as my witness, along with this being a public forum, I will not go meekly down for something I did not do...nor will ever do. I live a criminally free life, don't associate with low life's, live by the law, ...well....I may go over the speed limit...D ...don't fool with street drugs...well, I used to smoke a lot of weed, gave that up when I hit 40....have receipts for 99% of my guns.....have not owed anyone or entity a penny since I was 40...... this modern BS mixed with communism and jealous "associates" comes down to honor and personal integrity.....if someone attacks mine......I'm coming after them like flies on shyt..... :D .... old school thinking is what made this country great and I'm gonna do my part, along with PRESIDNT Trump to keep it that way........(I could be wrong as I'm not as educated as some here...but.....don't it have something to do with the 1st?.. :D)

Anyway...on to fun things....you guys with the Dillons.....I hear they are great...never used one....had a complete outfit with all kinds of extra that I sold to Old Win.'s boy. Still have a new specimen of a Hornady Projector press with 20 shellplates along with a like new Hollywood press but.......I continue to stay with RCBS, having a half dozen Rock Chuckers, Piggy back, and a Pro-2000...I love them all......actually wearing out a Piggy back...yea...wore it out after several hundred thou.....the Pro-2000 is "the shyt"...I load ALL of my competition ammo on it, even the long range accurate stuff...mmmmm...maybe that's why I don't win in that game......another story....

Hey Tom.....I done spent the money from those last two sales items......come on over....I believe it's time for you to 🎓 graduate to the "big boy toys".....Your Marlin prototype needs a friend.....like a high condition 1886......----6

Don't worry Tom. You can borrow my coat. :D
For payment, grab me that 86! :D

I've never loaded rifle ammo on my 550. I use it for 45 auto, 38, and 357. Like above, I load an ammo can of 45, switch over to small primer, then load 38 and 357.
Try and do most of my volume pistol ammo in winter.
Everything else is loaded on my old Rockchucker.
"Oh Bother!" said Pooh, as he chambered another round.
