Was out of the house about 8 am, was running late for bird hunting, my job to build a fire in the clubhouse(shed) so the older members can change their boots where it's warm, I don't mind I like to build a fires! I don't use paper!! Paper is for Girl Scouts that don't have a gas can handy!

Anyhow, the Brown Wonder and little sister did a wonderful job as usual. I hit a chukar that didn't go down, watched it fly 100 yards gaining altitude, typical lung shot bird. It just about made the property line when it helicoptered to the ground. As we went to find it a hawk flew in and landed in a tree about 30 yards from where the bird fell. The hawk was who knows where and came looking for a meal! Amazing eyes. BUT I have amazing ( to me anyway) dogs! Parker puppy found it and brought it to me. Parker also found another chukar that couldn't get out of the briar patch she ran it down and brought it to me. She's learning fast.

Home from bird hunting to go run a couple errands, next thing I knew it's 3:30 and I'm still sitting in the fly shop in the midst of a good BS session!

We are to get a wintery mix tonight into tomorrow. I hope the government opens a couple hours late. I still get up at the same time but I love sitting in my living room with a cup of coffee and a wet lab nose in my lap, watching the non-driving SUV owners slide around on ice and wonder why their vehicle(which they believed to be impervious to weather) isn’t going straight. If that don’t start your day with a smile nothing will. Then I go get in my one ton super duty and go to work AFTER it warms up a little. Don’t matter unless you vehicle is green and has tracks ICE is a no go for driving.

Have to walk with care, must be almost a quarter inch of ice on the van windshield.
Supposed to get up to 38 later so it should melt off, be careful everyone with ice.
Going out to the shop and see if we can make a sharpener for a carpenter pencil. :)

Edit, first model was a failure, not sure its worth the effort.

Had a dozen birds to stock this morning so went to the club this morning. I Got 3, Claro found 10 out of 12. Buddy got 2 others. Left Parker home, yesterday she was limping when we got home. Her right knee was warm to the touch. I don't need a broken puppy dawg :|

With the weather coming I'm going to get in a tree this afternoon and see if I can get another deer.

Careful on that ice , Pitchy!

We got weather coming tomorrow. Normally wouldn't care but we are supposed to fly out. Headed down to my son's for a visit. Wife can't stay away from the grandson for too long.

I see Tom is hanging here more often...stay partner! We need a medical person in our group....we already have a trucker, couple of woodscraftsmen, two hermits, a machinist/outdoorsman, a California pimp, and a quality bullshytter.......so stay. :D

Ahhhh...pulled a 2:30 today......miserable weather......miserable attitude.....think I'll get dressed ..it's now 3:30----6

Hmmm, me thinks a Marlin but a pump would be fun but then again one of each would be great! Tell ya what Six surprise me- just send it on over! :D

Just about dark a doe stepped out, not 10 seconds later the skies opened up with ice pellets! Then some snow and back to ice. I let the doe walk, not a very big one- if I'm gonna spend 80 bucks for processing I'm shooting a big one!

Well Parker is walking on her toes on her right rear leg... Tomorrow I'll call the vet, figured I'd give her a day to recoup and see how she moves. Gawd I'm hoping it's not her hip ! If it's a hip there goes my plan to breed her.

FYI I have been reading every word just didn’t seem to have anything to say sometimes.
I got the weather forecast yesterday and played reposition the vehicles after church last night. Mustang in next to the garage on “my” side of the driveway then the super duty. Mrs fordwannabe didn’t have to leave as early as me so she wanted her F150 up by the garage door and would take her Scion to work. Came out this morning and had a sheet of ice on the vehicles but road wasn’t too bad cept for a couple spots of black ice in the dips in the roads. By the time I was 10 miles from home it was all ok. It was fun taking the truck to work but man crew cabs with 8 foot beds don’t go into downtown Harrisburg parking garages easily. I have 2 inches clearance to the cab lights and she do stick out a bit from the parking space.

We have 3 or 4 inches on the ground so far. Seems to be in a lull right now.
I'm glad, cause we are supposed to fly out to my sons early in the morning tomorrow.

I'm with OW, a bit before my time too!

Well the ice here has mostly melted. I've got the shop stove going- I'm starting to sweat, gotta turn the stove fan off!
I've been 3 hours in design, drawing, adjusting and tinkering on 4 cuts! Not to mention the hour for jointing and planeing raw walnut. My uncle in Idaho was recently given a flag that draped his grandfathers casket, WW1 vet. He called me about a week or so back asking to get a box made. I made Dad's box but I didnt draw up any plans figuring I probably wouldn't ever do it again. Well now I got a set and probably never get another to do...Murphy's Law.
Taking Parker to vet tomorrow afternoon.

Your just a spring chicken...in my time ....for pencils.....we would pull out a stick from the fire and grind it on a rock to sharpen it. In Pitchy's time, the alphabet was in its infant form of being developed and they would just blow smoke...one puff for yes and two for no.

By the way Jaaaaaaaayyyyyyy........I noticed Pitchy has a "Ranger" sharpener.....just like the kind I used to have..... :D

Pitchy......the Ranger is my favorite sharpener....it's built with tighter tolerances and never grinds a pencil down 2" just to get a decent point.........can't remember ever seeing a self feeder.-------6

Gunny....481 feet? That's some serious plowing to do......but it is slightly down so the first push is easy. My driveway is almost 400 feet and while it looks flat in pictures, it's actually slight uphill and it can be a pain to make that first swipe .

Gunny.....the flag...is that the one that's big....like 5 x 9......When my dad died in '07 the flag that draped his casket was given to my brother as he is the oldest. My brother took it home and promptly threw it in a barrel and burned it. I heard later is was because my dad and me were closer. See? Drama everywhere you go in life. I like it this way, by myself, talking with cyber buddies and an occasional visit. ----6

I don't really know how big this flag is. The triangle box is just a shade over 24 long and a hair over 12" high. When I did Dads box I had to refold 3 times to get it just right.

Well the vet says NO HUNTING for 2 weeks, leash walk and keep as calm as possible. He said the knee shows no sign of instability, hip seems nice & tight. So she is on NSAID's for the inflammation. Just gotta wait and see.
Then we stopped at the pet store, they gave me a pack of treats with CBD oil to try. So we will see what happens- she better not get the munchies!

Thanks Pitchy!
Looks like an engineering achievement, I see it's made in Chicago USA. Only thing Chicago makes now days is dumbocrates and welfare recipients!

Hey 6, thanks for that vid of the guy with all that firepower. I don't envy him much cause how many employees does he have to keep everything running? Impressive.

Pitchy, I've never seen so many different types of sharpeners. I use a big disc sander mostly or I have a pointer on my electric eraser for use on the drawing board.

Man......I'm waaaayyyy behind in my quest for a wheelbarrow and axe museum.....that dang Pitchy will be opening up his "Pencil Sharpening Tools And Intricate Gadget Museum" by Spring.

Gunny is keeping the vet business in operation....hope your little buddy gets better.......we had a "dog miracle" happen here in the last month. I'll post about it here in the near future...... I told Tom (Fordwannabe) all about it.

BTW Master Gunnery Sergeant ....if you have animal questions and want to save some money, my better half knows more about animals than most vets...in diagnosing the problem and simple cures no one wants you to know..........and my daughter is a vet...not titled......she has her degrees but never followed through for the license......she found more money in pet medicine without the headaches of opening a business. Ask away and that goes for everyone here, even non contributors to our post as we consider anaimals who can't speak for themselves more important than humans who have them.

Yesterday my time was consumed by cleaning out the horse run-in shed...12 x 24....I was shoveling shyt at 9 pm in a crazy wind storm and putting down new bedding. Near 40 year old Stonewall is enjoying his new comforts.

Aaannnnnnddddd in my quest for non ethanol gas for the small engines around here I found that instead of driving 40 miles to get non ethanol pump gas ........I found a Sunoco station in Chadds Ford (where Washington fought the Limeys) that sells it by the 5 gallon can...very pricey but this area has a lot of "old money" and these old money people have antique cars like old Corvettes that demand the high octane leaded gas. It comes in three grades.....91 octane, 95 and 110.... $50, $70, and $90.....I was told the 91 is what people use in their small engines so I got dat. :D

Ttthhhhheeeeeennnnnnnnn I received a package from Todd the Turtleman...THANK YOU TODD!.......2 knives with deer antlers...one for spreading and one for cutting......the second one would make an excellent letter opener...and some cash.....why on the cash I don't know....I told him to keep the barrels.----6

Yea, made another hatchet handle from Osage Orange 🍊 for a buddie that brings me wood.

Got some new sneakers coming for the Rubicon...I put these on right after the Jeep was new and got 45,000 out of them. The new ones will be Toyo Open Country MT 285/75 which is the same size as these 33"X11.50
