Do I get a bag of rubber bands too?

Yes Gunny, you did...except the word "bands" was left off. (By the way, don't know if you got my last post about the barrels. Once a year I take a load of reloading junk and a few guns to the auction house.....its a lot easier for me instead of dealing with the classified here with one package at a time with everybody trying to beat me down on an already cheap price......and I'm gonna take those two Belgium A-5 barrels, one is 30" and the other is 26"...original as the original sight is on them. No choke tubes. Buck and a half for the pair.......

Christmas? Yes, in addition to Pitchy working in the workshop he also looks the roll. On Christmas Eve I'm going to get the Leupold spotting scope out and search the sky's for Santa.......I'll prove it to you guys and take a picture of an Electra Glide Harley with wings, pulling the presents with Pitchy (Santa) hollering ho ho ho with a rum and Coke in his hands and a Garand slung over his back. ........and behind he sleigh ...about a hundred yards back...will be Jay sneaking up in his Harley ....with a side car to carry the loot.....looking for an easy hit on Santas Garand.

Let me ask the owner of the A5 if he is intrested in your barrels.

Just got off the phone with the owner of the A5, he said he would pass. Told him it is a heck of a deal but he isn't interested so off to the auction. Thank you for the chance!

Six, are barrels available still? Todd
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

Well Six,
It'll be a cold pursuit on the old Softail. No windshield or fairing.
And yeah, I'll be scoping the Garand, but it's that sweet 44 Colt I'll be chasin'.
If I catch up, I will at least hitch a ride with my buddy, Santa Pitchy. Hope he has a little JD or JB for an old buddy. :D

Jay...stop talking about bourbon...I wish I could. :D

Gunny....thank you for asking....let's see what Todd has to say before off they go!

Todd..Turtleman..I have two left...sold all of the Remington's......I have two Belgium Browning A-5 barrels..both in 12 ga....they both look real nice....one is 26" and the other is 30"....no ribs. I see these things on the web for $300 plus per barrel...I only looked at one site...I'll take $150 for both of them.-----6

Now if I find this mfng telemarketer that keeps calling well before the rooster crows I'm gonna pull out their fingernails from their elbows! Yesterday they called at 5 am this morning was 0445! It's high time to get one of those call blocker things!!

There's a plan!
The soft top is hanging in the garage. We can throw it right on.
Then, depending on the weather, we can fold it up or down.

Geeze....if you guys would have waited for me to get up, your whiskers would have grown an inch...except Pitchy's..they are already a foot or two long.

No bs, two nights ago I went to bed around 1 and at 6:30 I was still wide awake probably due to me being in the cold garage until 11. Took a half of a klonopin and got up at 3 something. Last night I hit it at 2 and was up bright and early at 11. Retirement screws up your body clock.

I see Pitchy is self promoting again...I like the Harley's pulling the sleigh with Pitchy in the sleigh....and did you notice that little spot behind the sleigh? It's Jay sneaking up for some stealings and co-conspirator Griff is off to the side in the Black Rose to take the loot to the fence. Damm! You guys get aaaalllllll the neat stuff.

Gunny, we are at war with phone salesman. As most are Indians my wife tells them to go out back and f a goat but these guys can't be insulted. Most of the time it "click....click" and sometimes I do what Nath in England does..."can you wait a minute?" and then sets the phone down and goes about his business. Those Limeys sure didn't rule the world because they were stupid. :D

Todd.....pm me an address and I'll get them out in a day or two. No need to rush on the bucks, whenever you feel like it.

Well boys, I ate my banana and orange along with some green tea.......cannot have ANY caffeine or salt and presently it's snowing so I have to do the near final assault on the garage with the Stihl blower.

Here's the view from the Nancy Pelosi depositary. ----6

There`s going to be thunder in the sky with all them Harley`s snortin away with a big load of toys.
Top should work good Jay and the more music the better Gunny.
Six hope ya get feeling better, i was up half the night too worrying about getting a email conformation from CMP.

Why the reviews for this ammo is real good highly recommended and at 125.00 for 300 rounds in ammo can.
We`ll see when the Grand gets here.

That stuff should be ok, Pitchy. I've shot some through my son's FAL.
Surplus 7.62x51 is a little different than 30-06. That said, I try and make sure there are pictures of it to see it's been stored well.
The most accurate 7.62 I've shot was Portuguese. Shot better than Lake City. Have good luck with Brittish Radway Green, also.
I've heard the German MEN, Privi, and South African is ok too.
Luckily, the price of new 7.62 ball has come down quite a bit the last couple years.

I hear you bud.
I bought 1k rounds of mixed 7.62 Ball dumped in 2 ammo cans about 25 years ago. Think I paid 100 bucks. It looked bad. It had been "washed" in something, headstamps from all over the world. Found a couple .303 Brit and an 8x57, couple where bent or dented.
I used it as just blasting ammo. I still have a little. So far, I've only had 2 not go off. All have functioned my M1A's just fine.

Since i`m new to the Garand i take it the 308 uses the same long action as the 30-06 and the clip goes in the same place so does the shorter 308 have to jump the longer distance to the chamber?

I've never had a .308 Garand, but I think they put a spacer block in the receiver to allow for the gap. I do know that the .308 is much easier on the operating system of the M1 though.

Mr.Jay is right...Pitchy,,..Your ammo will be fine..only ball bustin'. :D As I never played with a 308 Garand, I'm interested in seeing the results. A sometimes buddy of mine, who is a gunsmith/machinist turned a 30-06 into a 308 and was so accurate, he used it in competition.

Hey Jay...you working? You better! Me and mom are going store hopping tomorrow up in Downingtown, Pa and I'll be spending my S.S. check! Thank you! Claybob, it's nothing....made in the 40's I think. I ring it to get the horse in from the pasture for eating time. When Stonewall hears that bell he comes flying up.

I have another from the late 1700's that's about twice the size of the one pictured but it has a crack in it about the exact same as the liberty bell.----6

Yesterday afternoon I had free so I decided to go deer hunting. It's our buck week so I grabbed my savage 220 and went to the farm.
This past weekend I helped one of the guys put up a new Big Game 2 person ladder stand. After I texted him he offered me the use of the new setup. Boy was that a mistake!
I've no idea who Big Game has doing the engineering but is obvious they have no clue how to design for comfort!
The seat is a mesh and that's ok it's the center support bar that's a real pita! Ok so ya gotta sit to one side or the other. Can live with that . But if you try to lean back you get 1" square tube to lean against. It's not anywhere close to the lumbar area, for me it was hitting about dead nuts center of my spine.
Dont waste your money on one of these stands!

I have a -10T and it's very accurate but too darn heavy for tramping thru the woods!
I'm curious to see how your new garand looks & shoots. Really hope you get a nice one.

Sure waiting on that conformation email, i usually get a delay on my back ground check so that`ll hold it up three days.
It will be a exciting day when it arrives. :)

30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

250 Savage: The Original short action, compact, high velocity cartridge.

Wow! That came fast, Lenn.
With lighter bullets, like the 150, there is little difference between. 308 and 30-06. That was the whole reason for adopting it.
Where the 30-06 pulls away is with heavier bullets. There is more case capacity, and with slower powder, more velocity can be achieved.
The .308 is more efficient, and suffers less from shorter barrels.
The 30-06, IMO, is more versatile. There is a wider range of bullet weights that can be taken advantage of.
That's why I have several rifles in both chamberings. They are both excellent cartridges.

I think you will be glad you went with .308 for your next M1.

You know, I just may be. So......I didn't have to steal all that stuff. I'm an heir! Woo Hoo! I can retire! :D

Pitchy,
Wow, that's neat! How do you come up with this stuff? :D
