Prayer request

Post by AmBraCol »

Hey guys,

A couple weeks ago our friend and mechanic, Luis, had a bad accident. He was checking out an offroad race track when a bank caved in, wrecking his customized classic Land Rover and doing some very serious injuries to his body. The doctors are saying that if he lives he will be quadriplegic. He has no feeling or movement in any of his extremities. But there's serious doubt as to whether his body will survive much longer. His kidneys, lungs and intestines all appear to be suffering ill effects from the trauma caused in the accident. I don't have so many friends around that I can afford to lose one and my heart is heavy for his wife and family who are daily waiting for a miracle or whatever may come their way. This happened way up north from here and it's not easy being so far away without the means to get up there and lend a shoulder to cry on. Meanwhile we do what we can from a distance. It's been a rough couple of weeks, it wasn't until tonight that we were finally able to talk with Luisa, his wife.

Anyway, I greatly appreciate those of you who join in prayer with us for Luis and his family.

Thanks!
Paul - in Pereira

My prayers for recovery and for his family are crossing the Atlantic right now.

Prayers from New Mexico. Paul, what will be Luis's family's fate if he passes? Is he the sole breadwinner? Young children?

I'm not clear on details. His wife does work outside the home, but doubt she can afford to live like they are accustomed to on her income. They have a 13 year old or so son. I don't expect his shop to remain as lucrative as it has been in the past due to the lack of his vision and commitment. I can't imagine walking in there and not hear him say, "Hey Paul! What's cookin'?" It wasn't until yesterday that Luisa started to realize he might not be making it out of this one as we'd like to see him make it. Only time will tell, we'll definitely be following up with them as this develops.

Hey Bill, thanks for asking. We're trying to get things taken care of prior to heading up stateside for "home service" and I forgot I'd not posted the latest.

Here's the latest email blurb I sent to our "Prayer List"...
Dear prayer partners,

Just a quick note about Luis. We just received notice that they removed the tube that was placed to drain liquid from his lungs. They have been able to raise his bed to almost sitting position but when the sedation wears off he becomes very restless. The doctors say, however, that he is fairly stable at this time, that it's going to take a lot of patience as his body heals.

Thank you for praying with us on this matter.

In Christ,

Paul and Sheri Moreland
If any of you would like to be on our Prayer List, drop a line to southamericanchristianmission At gmail.com requesting the same and I'll get you on that list. We also have a mission newsletter where we send out a monthly update on our work here. No financial requests, just updates on what's going on and requests for prayer.

Sorry for mixing that in with Luis' needs, but over the next three months it's going to be difficult to find time to get on here and that's the easiest way to stay on top of what's going on with him for those interested in his case.
