Ways to HELP SHASTA & FAMILY RECOVER from the Fire

Post by Old No7 »

Hello to all Levergunners:

Each of us has issues, problems, cars and/or appliances that break and need to be fixed, a new gun that we want, or something else that we need to deal with... But few and far between do ever we hear about a fellow Levergunner that lost almost everything in a fire...

Several of us have exchanged PM messages recently about how it would be good to DO SOMETHING for Shasta and his family, if we are able to do so.

No pressure, as this is totally voluntary, but if you are so inclined and able to do something to "Help Shasta & Family Recover from the Fire" (click for link, see the image on reply #6) here are 3 ways you can help:

#1 A Direct Contribution
If you have no issues sharing your name and $ amount with Shasta and want to mail him a check directly, please PM me and I will send you his name and mailing address by PM.

#2 - Participate in a Group Levergunners Contribution
If you want to be a little more discrete and join in the Levergunners Contribution, please mail your $ contribution to me at:
-- Darryl Hubbard, 2 Meadowbrook Dr, Hollis Center ME 04042 (checks or money orders made out to me).
-- I will collect all the checks/MOs, cash them and convert them all to a Visa Gift Card.
-- After this, it will be mailed to Shasta with a listing of the forum names of those who contributed (but no reference to any $).
-- As God & Levergunners are my witness, 100% of all funds, plus my own $ donation and time will go to Shasta.

#3 - Prayers and Good Thoughts
If you're not able to contribute, well that's OK too. If you could share some Prayers or good thoughts to benefit Shasta and his family, there is certainly a need for that, and it's easy enough to do.

We thought about taking up a collection for a gun that Shasta wanted to replace, but I figured it was best to see what he'd prefer; so I took the liberty of asking him his thoughts, and a gun could be way down on the list. In his own words, he said:

"...I am very touched that you and other levergunners want to help us out. My wife and I had a lot of possessions that need to be replaced, and of course many more that can never be replaced. After giving it some thought, I think a Visa Gift Card would be the least trouble for you to make happen, and the most universally usable donation for us. Both the wife and I could then use it. As I have said before, the kindness, care, and generosity shown to us by friends and strangers alike has been a great comfort to us. We very much appreciate what you are doing."

Honestly folks... I can't conceive of the hell that Shasta and his family have lived through, and it feels like the right thing to do to try and help.

Thank you for considering this appeal, and Bless You in advance for anything you can do.

Old No7, my contribution will be coming to you. It will be mailed Friday.

What you are doing for Shasta is really admirable. It shows real character. We really do have a bunch of good people on this forum.

Back to top for the coming week!

All donations will be cashed and converted to the Visa Gift Card for Shasta & Family once the inbound letter from the UK arrives here...

It's still not to late to donate though, if you are so inspired... :!:

Greetings fellow Levergunners!

I want to send out a very special "THANK YOU" for all that you have done for the Mort family. When I picked up my mail yesterday, there was TWO Visa gift cards and a spanking new Lee Powder Measure in a carefully prepared box, along with a very nice card. I have also received a much needed RCBS Lube-A-Matic bullet sizer from a Leverguns forum member. You guys are really the best, and have made my future a good bit brighter!! :D :D :D

Glad to hear, Shasta! Your family has been in our thoughts a lot the last few weeks.
I'd like to give a big thanks to my fellow Maine'iac, Old no.7 for organizing and doing all the work with this effort, too.
This forum has the best kind of folks.

Even though a member on here may go through hard times, we have good people like Old No.7. who really step up and help. This is more of a family than just a bunch of random people. As random as I am, I know what random is.

Shasta, you and your family are still in my prayers.
