Marine Stands Guard Over Dying Boy
Turns out this story is from 2012 -- but it is true (as I have Snopes'd it) -- yet I just saw this image on another forum tonight.
With all the stuff that goes on in this world; while it's old news, I just felt the image and inspiring short story were worth sharing...
Although I never served, I'll end with: "Semper Fi".

Cody Green, 12, was diagnosed with leukemia. He loved the USMC. He drew strength/courage from them. When he got an infection that attacked his brain, the Marines wanted to show him how much they respected his will to live/strength/honor/courage. They gave him Marine Navigator Wings and named him an honorary member of the USMC.
For one Marine, that wasn’t enough. That night, before Cody passed away, he took it upon himself to stand guard at Cody’s hospital door all night long, 8 hours straight.

Salute! That was a caring gesture. Is there any question about that Marine's reason for being a warrior?

I wish I could find that Marine and shake his hand. A little misty here all of the sudden.

That was a job well done.

President Reagan ( God rest his soul) once said " Most people go through their lives wondering if they made a difference. Marines never have to ask that question."
