Rihmfire......very nice...museum quality or for that manner, a levergunner quality.

Let's see what you dream single action Colt would be....it has to be a pre War example .....preferable Ww1-----6

OK..thanks rihmfire......I most wholeheartedly agree on both. I personally put the 1860...and all c and b Colts into another category. Over the years I could have had many c and b Colts.....some normal, some junk, some high condition......many cases sets.....some were Civil War presentation engraved to certain officers.....they just did not interest me as I was "into" the cartridge Colts......my buddy, who owns Targetmaster used to come across collections of these c and b guns and was only interested in the money. He kept a few high condition ones and the only one I kept was a cute little 1862 Police. Damm!!!! Wish I could go back in time.

Cartridge Colts...1873's ALWAYS brought big money...for the period...... in my time.....but c and b were relatively easy to buy.-----6

There are some nice examples of the gunmakers art on here, and I would never refuse a nice gun if it were gifted to me. At this time, I cannot sneak that sort of financial outlay past PillHer for a purchase of such a nice gun. I can talk her into the occasional new gun as she is also into guns. She is infinitely more practical than I am about purchases. A practical gun such as a Ruger or a Smith & Wesson is more to her liking. I do count myself lucky that PillHer likes guns and goes shooting with me occasionally. Those beautiful guns are something to remain on the wish list for a while. I think we all need our wish lists.

Piller,
Tell Pillher that you are not "spending" money. You are "investing" money. For real, my wife and I argued a lot over the years about my purchases but now that I'm retired and once in a while I sell a gun, she says, "What! You got three thousand for that old junker." She has since "come my way" and beings that she is a full blooded Italian, it's not easy to do.

The best thing about it is no one knows about the 6000 % profit you made on it as you can always argue 40 years of inflation to the Feds.....plus...transactions like these are usually made in cash. ----6

Nope...it looks original...remember, guns like that are/were major bucks at the time and we're purchased by people who were "uppity" and just showed them off. They usually had guns that were made for regular folk like you and I that they hunted with...if they hunted. Most every antique engraved, gold inlaid, deluxe, special options I have seen over the years still had high condition left on them.

I got to go take a picture for Old Winchester on the gun I'm leaving him. :D ----6

Aaaaaahhhhh.......don't like em at all. I have a few 1895's that are equipped with them and few more of the sights in my "sight vault". They work great for hunting at short to medium ranges but it's very hard to be repeatable. The little lines on the sight?...you only have to be off a little and the shot will be high or low. ----6

OK you two hoodlums...above me......just got off the phone with hoodlum #2 and he wants some goodies.....as for hoodlum #ONE, we discussed this individual and have both agreed he weighed something like 60 pounds more than when he stopped over here. At three pounds apiece, I figure he got me for 20 single action Colts in that danged buffalo coat. (Wish I had that many SAA's)-----6

We hardly ever need insulated Carhartts in the Dallas area. It gets down to freezing about less than 2 weeks per year.
