How about a dog post?

Post by 2ndovc »

We haven't seen one in awhile.

I was working on my basement project and my little buddy came down for a visit. Caught a cute picture.

Here's the whole crew;

I've always had big dogs but these little ones are just awesome critters.

 Our Jack Russel does that. Can't go without company! :D

We're in negotiations for another Great Dane. I keep telling Bubbles that all these little dogs only add up to two big dogs but she's
not buying it!
I miss having another animal in the house that can take down a bad guy!

We've been dogless since our Samoyed Monty died a couple of years ago as we've been running around taking care of our old folks. Since that has reached it's inevitable conclusion we got on a list for a Wirehaired Pointing Griffon pup, should be due around Christmas.

Tried to post a picture of Monty but can't get on the hosting site to save my life.

Maggie, our toy Poodle, in her natural habitat.
Ollie, our middle son's new Golden pup.
And Ava, our youngest sons Great Dane, babysitting.

Loving this thread. I miss my dogs so much.
My first dog, Molly, gone now these 40 years.

And my first two small ones, Oskar and Theo, gone in my divorce. I did not expect the little guys to be so darned endearing. They made me laugh every day.

I've recently picked up a new pup. A blue Lacy dog.

This is Rowdy and Picco. In the first photo rowdy is about 9 weeks old and Picco is about 8 years.

Great pictures Guys!
I’d have a dozen if I could.

Bill, that had to be tough. When I got divorced, the Ice Queen took the horses and I got the dogs. Best trade I’ve ever made.
Her attorney wanted to “put a price on the value of the dogs”. I was about to leap over the table and strangle her when my lawyer , an old and dear friend of the family sat me back down and told that horrible woman to move along.

Then there are the cat people... They say oh you will like my cat- it's just like a dog. Umm does your cat jump into a lake, swim 100 yards to retrieve a dead duck? No. Well then how is your cat like a dog?
Not sure about you but my dogs do not krap in a box and then walk all over the counters!

FW, handsome pair. I was unfamiliar with the Blue Lacy, and lo and behold, it is a Texas breed! What's not to love about that?

"incredibly smart dog"

Mosby is our second field breed English Setter and they both have minds that worked like lightning and their bodies are just as fast both having been clocked at 35 mph. Fantastic problem solving abilities and they seem to posses an incredible amount of "street smarts".

We decided as I had convinced my wife to move out of The Communist State of California, to get a dog and decided on a Rhodesian Ridgeback for the new house in AZ in Cat (neighbor got a picture of four mountain lions last month 300 yards from our house) and bush country. The name picked by my wife was Waldo (named after me and my inability to stay in one place very well) for a couple of years the only way she knew where I was due to a satellite tracking device (spot). He has driven to the farm in Alaska with me twice and is GREAT on hunting and security. Only growled lowly when the brown bear was heading toward the tent we were in. He currently about 2.5 years old and 115 - 120 pounds.

Well, I had resisted posting when I first saw this, as "my girl" is now gone from this world...

But I see that I'm not alone, so here's one of the last pix of our yellow lab Iris with our then 8-month old granddaughter Abby.

Didn't know at the time that Iris would be gone just 3 months later and miss Abby's 1st Birthday Party (next weekend)...

Gotta Getta Dog!!! It's just not time yet.............................

Mosby named no doubt in honor of the GREAT Confederate Partisan Ranger John Singleton Mosby ?

I’m 57 and have my fourth Border Terrier having had them pretty much for the last 56 years . And I’m on my first Boykin Spaniel . Also have a pair of Japanese Spitz / terriers in the Philippines. The Border may be my last aNd the Boykin my only one , our plan in ten or twelve years is to live most of the year in the Philippines and two or three months here . So once the two here are gone most likely won’t replace as I don’t wanna ask anyone to watch them while we’re out of the country for 8 or 9 monthsat a time .

Yes, he is named after John Singleton Mosby hence the two Confederate revolvers in the photo. I had posted nearly 4 years back when we got him asking for suggestions for a name. Parker was one suggestion which received quite a bit of support on this forum and I have a couple of Parkers but it lost out to Mosby.

I’ve got a fair accumulation of Parker’s and while I think that an excellent name for a setter or Spaniel I also think it a name for a male and I almost always get female pups . My hard headed little Boykin on paper is Ringneck Mallard Samantha . But she goes by Sam same as the last setter I had twenty years ago . Ranger might be a good name as well as in 43rd Partisan Rangers 👍🏻

They are bed hogs. My last two, a lab and a Dane / Boxer mix could take up a king size bed all by themselves.

But I didn't mind a bit. They were my best girls.
