New 1873 Winchester 44-40
You already have seen my 73 from 1895 and it's Ok but the barrel doesn't shoot very good for me so when Cheaper Than Dirt advertised a new Miroku 73 SRC, (what I had been wanting) for less than a grand with free shipping I jumped on it. Very slick new gun. Shoots pretty good when I let the Son shoot it. Guess my old eyes are just not good enough any more. Comparison side by side looks like the links would interchange. Only cheap thing I noticed was just a pin instead of a screw for the forend barrel band. No tang safety or rebounding hammer. Works just like it's older brother from 1895 though maybe a tad smoother after I adjusted on the springs. I'll probably buy a set of Whispers for it though.
Here's me shooting the one true powder.
Here are targets I shot.
And a target Son shot.

I sure like the look of those. Is that the 20" bbl?

Yes Blaine, 20" SRC. I already have Uberti 24" Deluxe Rifle and 20" octagon barrel rifles both in 44-40 but I decided a while back that I wanted a SRC to drag around with me the rest of my life. That's when I bought the one made in 1895.

I use my pickup as a benchrest for prairie dogs all the time. I use an owl ear sandbag on the mirror or window glass. For really long shots, I mean my back on the tire and shoot off homemade crossed sticks.M. M. Wright wrote: ↑Sun Aug 05, 2018 2:34 pm That's my redneck bench rest. "Here Pitchy, hold my beer."
