357 mag Rossi's are back

Post by Nate Kiowa Jones »

I just got word that my backorders are shipping today. At least the stainless 20" round barrel carbines.
Hopefully Rossi is back up and running again.

20 inches seems about right for a .357 rifle barrel.
My 1892 .357 has been used by every member of the family and my wife took her first deer with it. Same for me for my first feral hog.

That is good news. I do not currently have anything in .357 Mag, and I plan to fix that situation. A lever action would be a good starting point because it would then require a companion revolver in the same caliber. I have more and less powerful calibers that are pistol and rifle pairs. I don't need a .357 Mag, but need was covered long ago. Besides, I am sure I can find a use for it.

Blaine; I don't know what the current catalog shows but they used
to have a 16" Trapper model. I've got one in .357 and one in .45 Colt. Am I greedy? YEP!! Don't know who is going to end up with them .but they're going to have to wait for me to let go.

NO, NO, NO. Selling guns is their job, our job is to buy guns.
I've got my Marlin 20" 357, my brother has the 24" Rossi 357.
I'm waiting for a 24" in 44 or 45.
We are kind of depending on you Nate, a new factory, with new machines, we'll need someone to tell us what the new guns are like.

Blaine -
They used to offer the .357 in 16” on both a standard finger lever and a big loop. If they are starting to ship again, I’d be surprised if they didn’t offer it.

I recently picked up a .44 mag 16” new, so I am guessing it is a recent shipment.

This link is to the current 2018 product list. (last page)

In the past they did offer 16" guns in both blue and stainless. For now they are showing just the 20" stainless in 357 mag and 44 mag. Because Rossi has been down for some time, I suspect being they are the most popular, these will be the only guns made this year.

For anyone looking I do have some 16" 44 mags in stock, both blue and stainless and one used 16" blue 357m.

Interesting. On page 3 they list both 16" and 20", but on the spec page they only list 20".

Fairly typical for Rossi. At one time they had a picture of a stainless 24" octagon with the caption that it was in 454 casull. But, they never made it.

It will be interesting to hear about the quality of these new rifles. It took Remington a long while to get the Marlin production back up to snuff.

I'm assuming new production will be with brand new CNC machines, maybe wrong on my part. I think I'll be holding out for a 20" blued version. If it doesn't come soon I'll get here soon I'll opt for a 20" Marlin... As the old George Jones song said, the RACE IS ONE!
