Out with the .44s this morning.

Post by 2ndovc »

I wanted to see how the new Super Blackhawk would shoot and brought along a couple others.

The New Model SBH shot fine at 25 yds. I think I need to find different load for this one, it did ok with the 240 LSWC / 10.5 grs. of Unique but betting something different will do better.
The Model 29 was perfect as always, two handed hold at 6:00 shot a nice group. The Smith seems to do just a bit better with jacked bullets. Still, can't complain about that one.
I ran some .38 Special LSWCs through the Speed Six, and again was thrilled with how that thing shoots. A bit low and left but it's a fairly light load.
By the time I got around to shooting my Bowen SBH I was a bit twitchy from all the Magnum loads and didn't shoot well at all. I guess after 60-70 rounds of .44s I was flinching a bit.

Anyway, another good day at the range.

Jason, that is an admirable spread of revolvers. I have always shot single actions better than doubles, except for one Smith 25 in .45 Auto Rim. Dang that was accurate.

Bill,
That's usually my experience as well, but the other day that old 29 was just right. If I skip the 4 cups of coffee in the morning I can keep that one in a nice tight little circle as well as the Old Model Ruger. Just wasn't working that morning.

Looks like your 29 is a pinned recessed gun ? I have a hankering for a 29-2 4” .

It's a 29 with no dash, Early four screw model. I've been wanting a 4" barreled 29 as well, but it's got to be an early one. Not worth it otherwise. :D
