Some of the cool things I get to do.

Post by 2ndovc »

I wrote an estimate for a water damage claim almost a year ago on Middle Bass Island, OH. The poor guy couldn't get a contractor that would travel to the island to do the work, so I volunteered to do it in some down time waiting for storm season.

I have some finishing touches to do tomorrow but the commute across the lake has been fun! Amazing what a difference a couple of days makes around here.

This was Monday; 6 to eight footers, breaking over the docks.

This afternoon's trip home was a perfectly calm, sunny day.

That Perry's Monument is neat.
We stumbled across that on our way to Put-in-Bay one year.
Makes all that history I ignored in school much more interesting when you see the actual sites.

After visiting superior and michigan, I sometimes envy you guys near the great lakes.....I think of boats and fishing tackle and of plates full of fried perch and walleye.....

Then I think of those lake-effect blizzards and five month long winters and I'm happy !

Jason, that's just gorgeous country, although like Ray, I find the winters concerning!

The weather can be tough, especially when it’s 10 below and blowing 40 knots. But growing up here has me pretty used to it. We had a week of upper 80s and low 90s recently. I have a hard time with that stuff. Today’s supposed to be 75 and sunny for the last trip over to the islands. I enjoy getting out and doing some finish carpentry but I’ll be happy when this one is done.

I live near Narragansett Bay, with it's commensurate views & great fishing, boating & swimming.

The Great Lakes are pretty, but it got me thinking about the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald...….
