We've Lost Wind Whitehall

Post by Blaine »

I got to meet and do business with him several times. A real gentleman, shootist and levergun expert.
Here's a little tribute the guys at Levergun Scoundrals gave him.

I knew Wind through correspondence dealing with some old cartridges he was looking for. A very pleasant fellow.

He did not look to be very old.---6

Sorry to read this. I really enjoyed his long range shooting videos.

I'm sorry to hear he passed, but honestly I can't place him. My memory is faulty right now.

I've never heard of that other forum either.

My condolences to his family and friends.

Bought a set of his shooting sticks off him a few years back.
Great guy who helped out with postage to Australia.
Said he always wanted to come down here and sail a boat around the Whitsundays.
Looks like he won’t make it.

So

If you really want to do something - DO IT - NOW!!!

Wind posted some fantastic long range shooting videos on YouTube with his Marlin 38-55 Cowboy.
If you haven’t seen them, do yourselves a favour and check them out.
Sad loss of a great Marlin levergunner.

Wind was 75, and has had heart problems for a few years. Got a pacemaker last fall and we hoped he would be much better after that. Wind was a dear friend of mine for almost 15 years. We met through a mutual interest in old Marlin leverguns, and I attended the summer long range shoots he put on at his place each year.
I will miss him more than words can ever say. He was a great guy!

Hi, I haven't been here in a long while, but Wind and I shared an interest in ultra long range shooting, and I'm very, very sorry to hear of his passing. His long range work and videos were and are just amazing! So sorry to hear of his passing, he always felt to me like a "brother in arms". He took it to the next level all the time. Really sad to hear.

I never knew or met Wind, though I learned of him through the OP in the link. I believe that "Mo" is the same guy as "justsaymo" on other forums. Wind's place wasn't that far from me, I wish I'd have made it up to one of the shoots to meet him. They seem like a great group and Wind seemed like a real generous fellow. You could hear the joy in his voice just spotting for other shooters, he wasn't even the one shooting and he was still having a blast!

Wind rarely shot at the annual Happenz he put on. If I got up there early before the crowd he would shoot, but once people arrived he was concentrated on ensuring everyone had a great time! There may be a memorial Happenz this summer put on by Wind's sister. But too early to say for sure.

The videos were a collaboration of Mo and Wind's. Mo did most of the filming and pictures for the shoots, and Wind and Mo edited whatever needed to be prior to posting on Mo's youtube channel.

Great guy. Sad loss for sure. He sent me a Redfield front sight to fit on a Marlin 1897 many years ago. It was just what that rifle needed. He was always looking to help where he could.

Wind was rich in friends. Generous, very knowledgeable and very skilled with a great sense of humor. He is greatly missed.

This was our last video we made during my visit in April.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pUYBY1P6Pn8&t=185s

He was in a good spirits and very optimistic right up to his last moments. We had another project underway and had plans to shoot more videos that weekend. He was excited about the Quigley match later this month and the July HappenZ.

Very sad to lose someone of his calibre, the shooting community is poorer for his loss. Rest in peace sir.
