Prayers for Farmers

Post by octagon »

Guys the farmers and ranchers around Brady Texas are hurting for rain after 5 dry years of the last 6. There are good rain chances there today and tomorrow. Please take a moment and say a prayer for these good folks to get the rain they badly need, they are in big trouble there. Many thanks friends.

The current radar images show rain today and more tonight and or tomorrow!

Glad that I spent yesterday prepping the horse pasture for the forecast rain.
Now I have an excuse to stay inside and read or work on computer. :)

I hope that they get all they need, wish I could send them some of ours.

Yes, prayers up -- we NEED THEM!!!

I found these "Facts About Farming" online..........

Old No7

* 2.1 million farms dot America’s rural landscape.

* About 99 percent of U.S. farms are operated by families – individuals, family partnerships or family corporations.

* One U.S. farm feeds 165 people annually in the U.S. and abroad.

* In 2016, $135.5 billion worth of American agricultural products were exported around the world.

* More than 20 percent of all farmers are beginning farmers (in business less than 10 years).

* Farming accounts for about 1 percent of the U.S. gross domestic product.

* Farm and ranch families comprise just 2 percent of the U.S. population.

* Cattle and calves, corn, and dairy products are the top 3 U.S. farm products.

* Farmers and ranchers receive only 15 cents out of every dollar spent on food at home and away from home. (The rest goes for costs beyond the farm gate: wages and materials for production, processing, marketing, transportation and distribution.)

* In 1980, farmers and ranchers received 31 cents -- 2X as much.

* Women make up 30 percent (969,672) of the total number of U.S. farmer operators.

* Americans enjoy a food supply that is abundant, affordable overall and among the world’s safest, thanks in large part to the efficiency and productivity of America’s farm and ranch families.

Farming can be a tough life, but the Farmers I know wouldn't want to do anything else. Prayers always go out for them from my house.
