NRA Convention in Dallas later this week

Post by FWiedner »

Anybody planning to go?

:?:
Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.

History teaches that it's a small window in which people can fight back before it is too dangerous to fight back.

Drive 2 hours going and coming in Dallas traffic?

No thanks.

Rather mow the pasture and read about the show later.

I don't like driving down there either.

I'm going to catch DART rail at the Archerwood/Parker station and take the rail down. Goes right into the convention center.

No DART on weekends for me. By the time I catch DART I will be over halfway there. Dallas traffic is 70 miles an hour or 12 miles an hour.

Sorry to be a party pooper, but I really do have much work to do, including prepping tax info for CPA. In a few , off to John Deere for parts to get small mower back in action.

Have fun and be sure to buy some interesting guns!

I won't. Got too much work around the farm. Taking some time off while my Mom visits from Or. But, gotta get the tractor going is a priority... I think it's the starter switch... but Deere, in their infinite wisdom, doesn't carry it any longer. "Discontinued" is what the parts guy said! What? Discontinue a part on an otherwise perfectly operational tractor? Maybe it's the starter? One can hope!

Had fun at the big show. ... And it was big. Made it downtown on Fri and Sat mornings.

Looked at some cool toys, attended the annual meeting, listened to a few speeches, voted. Bought a couple of hats and a coffee cup.

Had a good perch on the north wall right on the first row in 'Ballroom A.' Wayne LaPierre sure can make a speech.

More cops than a body could count. Carried my LC9 the whole time and not a soul I encountered gave a darn. Only saw them stop one open-carry guy, and only one. He handled it like an adult.

On Fri I saw ONE protester. On Sat ZERO.

A couple of good days.

Had a good time at the Convention today. Planning on going back tomorrow. I got my son a Hornady hat signed by Jerry Miculek. Very polite and nice man. Just like you see on TV. I bought a few things. There was just too much to see in 1 day.

I think a Coonan will be my next gun. I looked at and handled a couple of them. I am wanting a .357 Mag, and one in a 1911 clone sounds good to me. 1911s have been around a long time, and would pair up well with a Model 1892 clone in .357 Mag. Does it have to be a revolver to pair with a lever action rifle when the rifle and semi-auto pistol are both Browning designs?

Just saw where they've selected Oliver North to be the new President.

WARNING ! HYATT DALLAS REUNION SQUARE employees are apparently thieves, supported by management !

To Wit: https://bearingarms.com/tom-k/2018/05/0 ... l-meeting/

Here are Hyatt Dallas Reunion Square employees going through my car at 3:00am.
They attained (obtained) the keys from (the) valet.
When asked why people are entering my car, James Waddleton (security manager) says "This is private property and we can look in anything we want without probable cause."
Hyatt apparently has no problem going through personal vehicles and telling customers it’s their right.
This after claiming probable cause but could not produce a complaint or police report.

Given the NRA Convention, IMO it's a fair bet that they were looking to steal some guns.

Never use valet.

Never leave a gun in a vehicle unless you have it in a safe or vault. Even then...

Good ideas - It's too bad the thieves don't care, and will break into your vehicle anyway, just in case..........something else of value to them may be hidden in there.

I have a special valet key for my car. It opens the driver door and starts the car. It cannot get into the trunk or the glove box. It also does not disable the LoJack. If you can, get a valet key. They are one more piece in a complex process.

I missed this post earlier. I actually entertained customers at the convention Friday. Call it "smart planning". It was awesome. 14 acres of everything we love, filled with all kinds of great people. The crowd was thick on Friday, so I can't imagine what it was like over the weekend.
