FWIW, I bought this Blackjack Tartan Dirk (the longer bladed version) off E-Bay yesterday - it should arrive by this coming Thursday.
I intend to change the issue Kraton (rubber) handle with a nicer one made from an exotic wood, like I did with my Cold Steel Trail Master Bowie a year or so ago.

I'm not much of a knife guy.....only holding true credence to my Leatherman Wave Tool....yea, maybe a couple of Old Timers and a WW-2 K-Bar fighting knife so I'll jump in with my opinion........
Nice knife...looks to be quality made...but.....those black handles on the first pic scare me...is that an "assault" knife?---6
(Come on, I had a blast today at my buddies gunshop in the back room......looking at early 1880's single action Colts, Lugers, '98 "training Mauser"...in new condition...a '74 sidehammer Sharps....and...drum roll ....a new unfired Colt New Service 45 Colt flat latch made in 1908......all the time sipping Crown Royal Reserve. )

No one needs double cutting edge knife, they have no sporting use and are only for killing!

This thread reminds me of the older gentleman with a smile sitting at a table at small gun shows in Roseburg, Oregon, with a couple of Sykes-Fairbairns and some books to sell. I said hello to him when I would see him, and he was always quick with a friendly smile. Not being a knife guy I didn't pay close attention to the fact that this kindly old man was none other than Col. Rex Applegate.

Jerry, I did not, I am very sorry to report. Another regular at those gun shows was Chuck Karwan, who lived in the same area as the colonel. You might recall his byline.
The one guy I was smart enough to chat with and get an autographed paper on Lee Enfields from was Ian Skennerton. He actually had his U.S distributing base in Grants Pass, Oregon, for a while. Another nice guy.
