I don`t know about the Uberti but on mine I had to turn down the rim thickness of 45-70 shells before they would chamber.
Hopefully you won`t have that issue.

I had to turn down the rims on 45-70 to make them fit a real Winchester 45-60. Sure was fun getting to shoot it though. Wasn't mine, belongs to a buddy of mine.

Congratulations on your new rifle. :D

Before you do any reloading for it, be sure to test am empty case to see if it will chamber. I have a Taylor's 1876 made by Uberti and the rims of my shortened Starline 45-70 brass were too thick to chamber without exerting a lot of pressure on the lever. Thanks to an excellent article by KirkD that appeared on this forum, I was able to thin the rims of my brass and have been shooting and reloading it for several years. Here is a link to the article:

A fellow I shoot NRA Lever Action Rifle Silhouette with has a Uberti .45-60 rifle that accepts the .45-70 brass without having to thin the rims, so there seems to be some variation with Uberti rifles.
