Bushmaster range report
Getting my Bushmaster .223 the way I want it.
New scope, Hammers 3x9 and a Magpul flip up sight.
Got a cleaning kit also.
Bought one of these rubber grip plugs and it fell out in about three shots.
Five shots at 100 yards using factory Win soft points, not bad considering that rest doesn`t work well with a AR.

Looks great Pitchy! I'm hoping to get out to the range next week to get the new Colt sighted it.

Lookin good ole buddy! That's good shootin'. Like I told you yesterday, them little things shoot pretty good.
Hard to believe that something with no lever can be that much fun.
I enjoy shooting mine, too.
Sorry about the grip cap. Probably shrunk in the cold. You can get the Magpul grip with a compartment pretty cheap if you want storage.
I got something that shrinks in the cold too!
Nice rifle, Lenn.

Thanks guys, me too Jay
Plowed a road up to the target by the mill last week, dern sun took the frost out and I almost got the van stuck lucky it is all wheel drive or I`d had to go get the tractor
Ha just noticed I didn`t have a mag in the rifle when Norma took the picture.

Glad you didn't get stuck, buddy. I thought it looked like it could be a little soft.

Pitchy, looks like we’re spose to start warming up in the next few days. I’m tired of this winter stuff. Todd/3leg
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

Re: Bushmaster range report
Pitchy,
Old heads like you and I never could believe how accurate these new AR's are. Back in "our" day, the typical Colt Sporter might do 3" "100 meters. I have no problem doing that a 300 meters......with beer can accuracy out to 500 meters.....as long as your shooting 69 gr. Sierra's with 25 grains of a medium burning powder.
My buddy Gunny cuts that in half with those long 77 gr. and the 1-7 twist.
Yea, it's like getting a new toy with this modern generation of AR's.
Let me know if you need brass.....I keep 10k on hand.-----6

The rest is a Predator, the issue is the center the mad hits it, I suppose if a guy used one of those commy ten rounders it might work.

Re: Bushmaster range report
Octagon,
I don't know.....he also shoots an 80+ gr. bullet that he single loads. Gunny is one of the top shooters at the Ridgway Rifle Club where they do the 1,000 yard varmint bench rest game and he is always telling me about these long range bullets called Berger VLD. that he uses for his 6.5 x .284 or his .260 Rem.
I'm "assuming" the .22 caliber bullets that he uses in his AR .223 heavy bench gun are also Berger. The two brands he always talks about ar Sierra and Berger, so it's one of them.
Me? I'm too cheap to buy fancy projectiles that you only get to use one time. Sierra Match Kings is as fancy as I get.---6.

Pitchy, I know what you mean, it has been 2 or 3 years since I have shot mine. the little thing is so accurate it gets kind of old quick. I need to get to a range for some shooting.

Re: Bushmaster range report
I was going to buy a new trigger group and one of those bolts that go in the grip that takes the creep out but decided against it.
For what I use it for it`s fine, I do have a bipod and new sling coming, the one with the clip on the end so ya can unhook it easy for break down.
Should be here next couple days.

Re: Bushmaster range report
Those are my favorite sling! The old cotton canvas M1/M14 sling is the best. Quick to adjust and they stay put on a wool coat. Use em on all my rifles.
Good choice buddy.

Re: Bushmaster range report
Bipod came today, seems pretty sturdy.
Don`t know what`s going on with the sling I bought it last Wed. and got a tracking number which shows it hasn`t arrived at USPS yet.
Was supposed to be here yesterday, sent him two messages with no reply, he has relisted the action so must be around.
He has 100 percent feedback hate to be the one to change that.

Re: Bushmaster range report
Pitchy,
I'm of course a fan of single shots, but have owned 5 different AR15 type rifles over the years, and all different brands. Last year I bought another when the prices tumbled, and I couldn't pass up an AR15 carbine for $399. Like sixgun said, they've gotten much more accurate over the years, and my carbine shoots as accurate as my heavier 20" barrel did years ago! I have a red dot on mine, but plan to slip a scope on to see how accurate it really shoots!
