On this day in 1916 ...

Post by Bill in Oregon »

Pancho Villa and about 600 of his Villistas crossed the border and attacked Columbus, New Mexico, hoping to murder an arms dealer who had cheated him -- and capture the weapons stored at Camp Furlong. When our boys finally got their machineguns working, it was a slaughter and Villa got nothing.

That's just the way illegal immigration should be handled.

Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.

History teaches that it's a small window in which people can fight back before it is too dangerous to fight back.

Yes, I agree but.....to show the members here how much our thoughts have changed it was only a few short years ago that when we made a public statement such as the above, we were heavily chastised by other board members.

Some years back I posted an animated video game where you could "shoot" Mexicans crossing the rio grande/border and I was violently rebuked by near everyone.----6

I never thought of the Claymore as being gross. I actually liked them when I was paid by Uncle Sam.

The irony here is that Villa hoped to gain enough weapons to topple Carranza, whom he hated for selling mineral rights and other encouragements to Americans. Villa would likely have loved a border wall, to keep the g.d. Gringos out of his country. In fact, Villa so hated Americans coming to Mexico, that in January of 1916 in the state of Chihuahua, his men stopped a train from El Paso with American mining engineers aboard. The 19 men were led off the train and executed in hopes this would stop American meddling in Mexican mineral resources. One engineer feigned death and survived.
So Mexicans have a right to anti-immigration fantasies as well.
