I can still shoot....

Post by Nath »

....a rifle! :D
Six rabbits, head and neck shots all off hand. Longest being 109 paces, the rest around 80 yards.
Four in the photo.

The longest shot was right on the money as we're all the shots.

I am really enjoying the Hornady v-max WMR round.

.

We could only wish there were ample rabbits around here to shoot - their population here is definitely not up to pest/varmint level, for sure.

BTW - nice shooting !

The hollowed bolt knob is stumping me - What rifle is that ?

I agree Nath, you can still shoot. Must be nice to be young.

I love watching the rabbits hoppin around here in the evening. The problem is we have too many hawks and owls around here to allow them to multiply very much. That's some good shootin with that CZ.

Good shootin' Nath. I like to cook my rabbits over charcoal and use a little barbeque sauce while eating them. There was a time when I raised rabbits just so I'd have one when I wanted. Had a barred owl actually trap himself in a hutch trying to eat my rabbit.

No. 2 son has a chinese copy of your rifle but we haven't shot it. Doubt it's as accurate as the real thing.

Good shooting Nath---really enjoy your posts! So, educate me. Those rabbits looks the same as our Cottontails out here in Wyoming. I've eaten and hunted them since I was young----but, I've never been taught how to tell a buck from a doe---until after they are dead. Can you tell me how you tell them apart before you shoot?

Thanks,

Jon.

Good question.
The bucks have larger heads and are fuller faced.
The does have sleeker lines to the face.
Bucks chase the does around.
Bucks tend to when out sit around alot. Does when out tend to graze instead of watching the world go by.

Thanks Nath, I'm going to start paying more attention---I generally only hunt them in Oct and Nov as they lose their fat and good condition pretty quickly around here starting in Dec and Jan, so I'll wait until next year for a definite test...HA!

Not many rabbits around here, either. Too many hawks and coyotes.
