That is a big cat, probably over the average size.

There are deer, cattle, and some exotics in that area, too.
Lots of food for a large predator.

There are lots of cougars in the river bottoms of North Texas. So many that it's legal to shoot them on sight, if you have a hunting license.

Plottman, my nephew lives in the West Palm Beach area. Him his daughter saw one out west of town in the Loxahatchee Slough area. About the only tree would be a cabbage palm.

I live in a rural area about 20 miles west of downtown FW. We have lion sightings every few years. No surprise here. My uncle is a retired state wildlife biologist. He once told me they had lion sightings in every single county in Texas. All counties including metropolitan areas. Lions are only seen when they want to be seen. Just because folks don't see them doesn't mean they aren't around!
