Beautiful Lenn. That dial really reminds me of our family's Atwater-Kent from when I was a baby children. Can you buy whatever that green "eye" was on our big Philco console? I always thought it was so cool. My bed was on the couch in the living room and Dad was usually still listening to the radio as I went to sleep.

Got the radio today it`s a 1921 Aeriola Sr one tube receiver.
Of coarse it didn`t work so had to go over it and found a broken wire and repaired it and now it works fine.
I was very happy the tube was good because they are rare and can cost 75 bucks

Hi Merle, they are very powerful, That station is 30 miles away.
I haven`t searched out other channels yet as I just got it running.
I have it hooked up to my puter speaker in the vid which isn`t a good idea for this radio, it comes in real loud with the headphones also.
I ordered a old speaker driver that I`m going to put a horn on when it arrives with hopes it works well. :)

That's a nice touch. Now the modern looking batteries don't clash with the old timey radio. Cool.

Pitchy, that green eye was an aid to tuning. It was the end of a tube that glowed green in a circular pattern that swept around the iris of the eye until it met at the top when the signal was at it's strongest. The Philco forum has better explanation. Always fascinated me.

The fault in this radio is the wood case is cracked on both ends.
It`s 3/4 inch oak and I can`t hardly pull the crack together by hand.
Need professional advice, should I try and glue and clamp it or leave it alone and if I glue would bond tight work.

Sorry I missed this old buddy! That thing is beautiful!
Hard to tell in a pic, but I bet you could glue and clamp that crack.
Even if you leave it as is, it's really nice. Stuff like that is really cool. It is lucky it found it's way to someone who will care for it.

Thanks Jay, the crack won`t squeeze in as its sprung out sorta if ya know what I mean and I think if I did clamp it it would break out again.
I put some non hardening wood putty in it and seems to look ok.
I like this radio so much I bought another in dark brown, it even has the light hood on it and will post when it arrives.
