Sorry nope , I did hang it on my exsisting horizontal wire but didn`t notice any change.
When it gets nicer out I`ll try it more. :)

Ok I tried the slinky and the tape measure, could just hear a station with the slinky and not much more using the tape.
Not a fair place as the only ground point was the pipe for the wind thingy as I can`t pound a stake in the frozen ground.
Will try it again when the ground thaws. :)

This is one of the most fascinating threads I've seen in a long time.
Kirk: An old geezer who loves the smell of freshly turned earth, old cedar rail fences, wood smoke, a crackling fireplace on a snowy evening, pristine wilderness lakes, the scent of
cedars and a magnificent Whitetail buck framed in the semi-buckhorn sights of a 120-year old Winchester.

Thanks Kirk glad ya enjoyed the thread, electronics isn`t one of the things I`m good at so it`s pretty confusing and trial and error.
There are so many variables that can change things I added about 50 feet to my antenna and now some radios are better and some hardly work.
Fun to experiment with them none the less. :)

Not to drift the topic, but the antenna thing reminded me....
When we were kids, my buddies and I all had CB base units next to our beds and would shoot the bull before going to sleep at night. I had an old 23 channel Realistic Navajo. Still around somewhere. Depending on our antenna setup, some could get across the neighborhood, some across town.

Sorry for the drift. Just a memory that popped up. :D
