A new .357 Mag rifle

Post by Rusty »

As others have I have been searching in vain for a .357 levergun for some time. I just can't warm up to the Henry. Beside being heavy I don't like the way they load thru the tube. I couldn't find a Marlin or a Rossi, then I found this. http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2017 ... ever-guns/

I guess all I have to do now is wait.

Good news. They should sell some of those.

I would definitely like that.....save me money vs threading and shortening what I have, if I sell my 1894Css now to generate the funds.

I like the lines of those new CBs. None has shown up in the stores here as yet.

Well they say it's in the 2018 catalog so we'll have to wait and see how long it takes for anyone to get one.

Well, the day after I wrote that, I stopped by my favorite gun store and there was a new CB in .45. I was very favorably impressed. The action was smooth, and the wood to metal fit good. The rifle balances nicely, and that tapered octagon is pretty classy.

I was lucky enough to get a 357 Winchester legacy right here.
Don't shoot it enough though....that has to change this year!

I’m very happy with my Maruku Winchester ‘92. Slick enough and good groupings. It is exactly what I was looking for.

I have the Marlin with a 20 inch barrel and a Puma with a 16 inch. I feel I am set for now.

Now they are thinking "suppressors" let us hope they give a little faster twist to the barrels. And cut those MSRP's by about 40%. At which point I might gen up a little interest in checking out a Remlin.

I understand your attitude towards the "loading tube", but after owning a Henry Big Boy Steel Carbine in .357mag with the 16 1/2" barrel for ver a year I can tell you that the loading tube is very serviceable, easy to use, and easy to unload at the end of the day. As far as WEIGHT, my Henry weighs 6 1/2 lbs, the same as the Marlin 1894 CST (16 1/2" barrel)... :)
