Great photos! I have my eye on a pre-64 1894 in 32 spec, this thread may have convinced me that I need it.

Nice whitetail and bear. I love the 32 Special and have carried one hunting it for the past 42 years. I have a pre-64 Winchester model 64 and a pre-64 model 94 carbine that I switch between. Between the two, I've taken dozens of whitetails and a handful of bear. Also many medium sized game. A fine cartridge.

Nice ! I've taken two deer with Marlin's in 32 Special . The first was with a RCBS 32-170GC in a 1951 336SC and a receiver sight . The other was with a Marlin Model 1936 shooting the Lyman 321297 with a tang sight .
Quite obviousely there's not a darn thing wrong with a 30-30 , however I'd rather have a 32 Special

If some manufacturer would bring that caliber back for a limited run, I think it would sell well once we recover a little more from the abusive economic warfare of the recent past. There are probably enough who would want one to make it a viable proposition for a limited run.

When Hornady saw fit to bring out the rubber tipped Leverevolution 32 Special I wrongly assumed Marlin would bring the 336XLR out in 32 Special . I was chomping at the bit for one .

I remember when I saw my uncle's Win 94 in .32 special. I'd never heard of it before, it looked like my dad's .30-30. Uncle explained to me that the .30-30 was a deer rifle and the .32 was a bear rifle. I'm guessing that was the common line of thought during the early 60's.

Rusty, That was How I heard the talk of the two rounds in the early 1950's up in the Michigan woods. I reckon the difference in the bullet diameter made it better for bear.
