Incident was in Allahabad, India. Who knows what kind of weird ammo over there? Strange indeed. Fake news, maybe?

3 cm or 1.1811" long, they didn't say if that's after it was recovered. There is a lot more detail here:

It is India so, my guess would be a very old and age weakened .303. Possibly even an original 215 grain form the 1890's.
Re: What the heck kind of bullet is this....???
Shot at a reasonably close range, it would seem. Certainly no .303 (or any other round) I've ever heard of. Should have blown his head clean off.

I'm reminded of a report of an nonagenarian who tried to off himself with the revolver of his youth. The bullet of the ancient cartridge lodged in his ear.
Re: What the heck kind of bullet is this....???
It's definately a long for caliber rifle bullet. I don't know why the penetration was so limited. Maybe it hit something before hitting the man? Maybe a wood blank or reduced power round? Glad he's alive. Too bad he lost vision

Maybe a wood training round...(looks awfully radioopaque for wood though)...?
Maybe a malfunctioning round...?

Appears that the entry was the wound above his right eye. Looking at the imagery, the bones at the bridge of his nose are demolished. He's gonna have a stuffy nose from now on.
I'm guessing .303 British Mk VI.
Th bullet doesn't seem deformed enough to have hit something else, but it sure wasn't doing 2500fps when it hit this guy in the face. Something slowed it down. Whether it was a defective round or a junk gun, who knows.
Guy is lucky not to have a new vent in his head.

Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.
History teaches that it's a small window in which people can fight back before it is too dangerous to fight back.

The point seems flat and almost mushroomed, so perhaps it went through something substantial like a 2x4 or whatever first (....but during a 'robbery'...???).
Anyway, it doesn't look like fun.
