Some prayers please!

Post by fordwannabe »

Hey guys need some prayers this morning. Last night while working in the emergency department at the local hospital Mrs.fordwannabe had a "cardiac event". She is going in to cardiac catheterization this morning and IS very uncomfortable. Pain has not stopped since 1600. I was across the state and drove like an idiot to get here. She is walking and talking but tough former cop is scared (of course me too). Prayers for Her would be appreciated. Hey if your gonna have a "cardiac event" with a troponin of 5.79 the ER is a good place to have it. Thanks. Tom

You've got them Tom. She was indeed in the right place at the right time if this just had to happen. Praying for a quick and seamless outcome!

Prayers sent, good sir!
Thankfully, she was in the best place to have that happen. She sounds like tough stock. I'm betting she will be well in no time.

Done !

When my cath was done last July, the doc went in through my wrist ILO my femoral artery like in 2002 - harder for the MD, but easier on the patient (except for the extensive forearm purple bruising).

We wish her well !

Posted this once but it seems gone SOOO.
SOMEBODY IS FEELING BETTER :D . She had 100 percent blockage in one artery and two more marginally blocked. They cleared those places a stent through the right wrist and NOW SHE WANTS TO BE IN CHARGE. Never been so glad to be bossed around in my life. Tentatively scheduled to go home tomorrow if no new issues.
Once again God shows his power and awesomeness in my life. Thank you all for the thoughts and prayers.

Check into External CounterPulsation Rx.

Basically it facilitates collateral circulation. Even patients with angina improve dramatically (we do it mostly for ones who aren't stentable or bypassable, but increasingly for ones who just want to improve endurance and reduce risk). Athletes started to use it to improve their stamina, so it works at both ends of the fitness spectrum.

Cardiologists aren't necessarily trained in it, or have even heard of it, and the equipment is expensive and the fees low, making it not profitable compared to the 'interventional' approach. Usually it is general internists, or family docs, or chiropractic docs who do it.

Definitely something to check out though.

I'm planning sometime to do a CPET study on myself before and after a session of ECP treatments.

Prayers for a speedy recovery, I had a couple of stents via the right wrist and was good as new in no time.

We will be praying for your wife. I went through a similar mess like that back in the summer. The wrist heart cath showed my heart to be clean, didn't need any stints. They did put a pacemaker and a defibrillator in. That left me pretty weak and sure slowed me down. Reckon your wife is strong enough to handle it, but at 79 it took a toll on me. I thank the Lord many times a day for the health that I do have to be here with my wife and family. I am here now because of all the prayers from our church and friends. Praise the Lord !!!!!!!!!!!

Now is a good time for her to be asking about whether her cholesterol levels may have led to this, and to be starting on something to help prevent any more such incidents. Statin drugs or fibric acid drugs to lower the cholesterol and fish oil with EPA and DHA to help lower the tendency for the platelets to stick together. With the fish oils, get a good quality one. Find one which voluntarily sticks to the U.S.P. standards. United States Pharmacopedia is the organization which sets standards for manufacturing, quality, and purity of all prescription drugs. It does not have authority over the Over The Counter products unless they advertise that they go by the U.S.P. standards, then they have legal authority. AJMD429 will have good information for you and your wife on this matter, too.
