Good stuff.
"Scope Cam"...I would never have thunk it. I guess you can aim with the camera in place?

Re: Varminting in S. Africa
Yep. You adjust the camera to focus on the image in the scope and look at the viewer instead of through the scope. Do a search on YouTube for "Ted's Holdover". He's an interesting guy who uses air rifles (high end air rifles) to take all manner of vermin. He's up in Wisconsin IIRC. Anyway, he's got some amazing videos taken via scope cam and he knows his stuff. This does NOT work with a traditional scope mounting position and cheek weld, etc. The guys who do this tend to use bipods and strange ways of holding the rifle.

When I was in South Africa, the Vervet Monkeys were everywhere. They were a nuisance. Chris' wife Sabina told me about a time when a troop of monkeys got in and made a complete mess of the kitchen while leaving Pelosi everywhere.

Re: Varminting in S. Africa
Leonard Bull, master gunsmith, instructor and friend told us students about a baboon that tore the guts out of a Great Dane that belonged to a rancher in South Africa. From that point on the rancher shot every baboon he saw! Bull was working as a game ranger at the time.

Re: Varminting in S. Africa
I spent a lot of time in the Midlands in Rhodesia in the late 70's. We also shot Baboons on sight. Very destructive critters...also very smart.
Re: Varminting in S. Africa
A friend of mine worked on getting a youth camp up and running in Paarl, SA. That is the wine region of S. Africa. They had baboons in the area that would sometimes cause problems. When that happened he would call a neighbor who became a good friend. He was also on the local rifle team. He would take care of the problem and the fix would last for 6-8 months before he'd have to come back.
